HISTORY OF THE CHINESE IN WEST MALAYSIA AND SINGAPORE
Who is the Peranakan? Who is Baba Nyonya? Are they the same? Who is the Lau33khaek3? Who is the Sin3khaek3?
These four groups, together, form who we are today. And yet, most people cannot tell one from the other.

Today the official form for the application for Penang Hokkien to be considered for gazetting as an intangible state heritage has been returned to the State Heritage Office, along with details of stakeholders, and a dossier on the language (or to be exact, the dialect of the language). As I understand, the heritage committee will be meeting up to consider the application in August, and then I will hear the results.
Thank you for all those who have submitted your signature. I have collected enough signatures, and will not be accepting any more, since the formal application has been submitted.

MAKING PENANG HOKKIEN OUR STATE HERITAGE
The Penang State Government has been talking about making Penang Hokkien our state heritage since last year, and now, they are finally asking me to make an official application.
As part of the application, I need to submit the name and signature of individuals supporting this application.
If you support gazetting Penang Hokkien as a state heritage, please open the attached file and sign it (hard copy and softcopy, both can), and then return to me your signed copy. You may also get your friends and family members to sign in support.
