3 July 2026, UMPSA Gambang

UMPSA was pleased to receive a goodwill visit from Transwater Environmental Services Sdn Bhd, led by Dr Abdul Rani Abdullah, to explore the commercialisation potential of eAnfun, an AI-based odour sensor technology developed for industrial applications.

The constructive engagement was attended by the UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Prof Ts Dr Yatimah Alias, Assistant Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research, Prof. ChM. Mohd Hasbi Ab Rahim, UMPSA Legal Advisor, Pn Marlina Mamat, the founders of UMPSA spin-off company Synbion Sdn. Bhd., Prof. Ts. Dr. Saiful Nizam Tajuddin and Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Sharfi Najib, together with key university officers.

During the session, the Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed UMPSA’s strong commitment to supporting researchers, university intellectual property, commercialised research products, and the growth of start-up and spin-off companies within the university’s commercialisation ecosystem.

Dr Abdul Rani also shared that while the journey from academic research to market adoption is never without challenges, mutual respect, trust, and commitment among all parties are essential. Coming from an academic background himself, he strongly believes in products built upon genuine scientific capability, such as the technology developed in eAnfun.

This engagement reflects an important principle in university commercialisation: when research is strong, industry confidence can grow; and when trust is present, innovation can move further.

UMPSA remains committed to turning knowledge into value, research into solutions, and university innovation into meaningful industrial impact.

UMPSA Shares Institutional RDICE Practices at National Ecosystem Workshop

BANGI, 5 July 2026 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) shared its institutional practices and implementation experience in research, innovation and commercialisation during the RDICE Ecosystem Coordination Workshop held at Hotel Tenera, Bangi, Selangor from 3 to 5 July 2026.

UMPSA was represented by the Director of the Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer, Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Muhammad Aizzat bin Zakaria, and the Director of the Research Grant Management Centre, Associate Professor Dr. Norhayati binti Rosli.

The session was also attended by Professor Ts. Dr. Che Ku Mohammad Faizal bin Che Ku Yahya, Assistant Vice Chancellor (Corporate Strategy), reflecting the broader institutional interest in aligning UMPSA’s RDICE-related initiatives with national-level ecosystem coordination.

UMPSA's participation brought together perspectives from two key areas within the university’s research and innovation ecosystem, namely research grant management and innovation commercialisation. This enabled UMPSA to contribute practical input based on its current practices in supporting research development, technology transfer, commercialisation initiatives and strategic engagement with industry and relevant stakeholders.

The national-level workshop brought together relevant stakeholders within the higher education research and innovation ecosystem to discuss the coordination of Research, Development, Innovation, Commercialisation and Economy (RDICE) initiatives. The session also supported ongoing efforts to develop the RDICE Ecosystem Playbook as a strategic reference to strengthen the RDICE ecosystem across higher education institutions.

Throughout the workshop, UMPSA shared its current practices, implementation experience and existing institutional ecosystem. The sharing covered areas related to research grant management, innovation development, technology transfer, research commercialisation and strategic engagement with industry and relevant stakeholders.

UMPSA’s involvement provided an opportunity for the university to contribute institutional input based on practical implementation, while also gaining further perspectives on the broader national direction for strengthening the RDICE ecosystem.

Through this engagement, UMPSA continues to support national efforts to build a more coordinated, practical and impact-oriented RDICE ecosystem for the higher education sector.

UMPSA Innovation Beyond Borders: Induction Machine Training Kit by Dr. Azri Hizami

PEKAN, 29 June 2026 – The Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre (ITC), Department of Research and Innovation, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), facilitated a strategic matching session between one of the university’s innovation products and an international collaboration partner.

The session was part of UMPSA’s effort to explore opportunities for university-developed technologies to be tested, validated and positioned in potential overseas markets.

The featured product, Induction Machine Training Kit, was developed by Dr. Azri Hizami bin Rasid from the Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronic Engineering Technology (FTKPM).

The product was developed with the support of UMPSA’s internal funding mechanisms, namely the Teaching and Learning Grant and the Lab2Market Grant, which have contributed to its development journey towards practical application and potential commercialisation.

The discussion went smoothly and will be followed by the finalisation of a suitable collaboration model between the parties involved.

This initiative reflects UMPSA’s commitment to strengthening its innovation and technology transfer ecosystem by connecting university-developed solutions with real market opportunities, both locally and internationally.
