WALK IN MY SHOES | When the World Suddenly Goes Dark…
对我们来说,这是一次体验;
我们或许会少一点不耐烦,多一点理解;
这就是 Walk In My Shoes|如果你是我。

👣 WALK IN MY SHOES | When the World Suddenly Goes Dark…
The moment the blindfold went on, we realised how long three minutes could feel.
Everything went dark.
With only a walking cane in our hands, even knowing that someone was beside us, we still felt uncertain and afraid.
“I don't know what's in front of me…”
“I feel nervous…”
“I'm afraid I'll fall…”
“I don't know where to take my next step…”
These were some of the feelings shared by our children, parents and volunteers after the Visual Impairment Experience.
But for us, it lasted only three minutes.
After three minutes, we could remove the blindfold.
We could see the people beside us again.
We could see the road ahead.
We could return to the world we knew.
But what about those who live with visual impairment every day?
That was when we began to understand:
For us, it was an experience.
For them, it is part of everyday life.
They still learn.
They still work.
They still go out into the world.
They still move forward, one step at a time.
So the lesson we hope our children take home is not:
“They are pitiful.”
But rather:
“They are incredibly courageous.” ❤️
We may never fully understand another person's journey.
But after walking in their shoes, even for just three minutes, perhaps the next time we meet someone with visual impairment, we will respond differently
with less judgement and more understanding,
less hesitation and a greater willingness to offer a helping hand.
That is what Walk In My Shoes is about.
We don't want children simply to learn the definition of empathy.
We hope that one day, when they meet someone who experiences the world differently, their first response will not be fear, avoidance or judgement
but understanding.
Because some of life's most important lessons cannot be learned from a textbook.
Some lessons only stay in our hearts after we have stepped into someone else's world. ❤️
