Navigating Dementia: Awareness, Care, Hard Decisions & Support - Online Forum
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is estimated that around 8.5% of older adults, or roughly 260,000 people in Malaysia, are living with dementia. Dementia in Malaysia is a growing public health concern, with projections estimating up to 560,000 patients by 2030 and 825,000 by 2050, as the country becomes a super-aged nation. This has led the Ministry of Health to launch the Dementia Action Plan 2023–2030 to boost awareness, support, and care.
Many of us are at a stage in life where we have aging parents or grandparents. As dementia is a progressive disease, individuals may, over time, require increasing support in their daily activities. We also need to consider how we can navigate the dementia journey as caregivers and prepare ourselves should we or our loved ones be affected.
The St. Mary’s KL Alumni Club will be hosting an online forum, “Navigating Dementia: Awareness, Care, Hard Decisions & Support,” featuring Jennifer Soh from Managedcare, on 14 January 2026, from 8:30pm to 9:30pm. This session aims to raise awareness about dementia and provide guidance on how to better support our loved ones.
In this session, we will discuss:
• Early recognition, disease progression, and caregiving strategies
• Navigating difficult decisions related to treatment, safety, and long-term care
• Support resources and caregiver self-care essentials
This online forum will be conducted via Zoom and is open to both Alumni Club members and the public.
Registration is free, and everyone is welcome.

Reflecting on the year that was and welcoming the one to come with open arms, we have successfully completed the first quarter of our term with flying colours🎉.
From informative forums, colourful carnivals to nostalgic reunions, we have made great memories and created countless smiles. It's not a matter of counting points, collecting donations or who's winning; it's in the bonding that makes us who we really are: a St. Marian. 💛💚💙❤️
So we are looking forward to a new chapter with more excitements. We look back with appreciation, moving forward with anticipation✨🥰
🥳Happy New Year!

What a beautiful lunch we had with Ms Richards for our year-end gathering! Teachers and St. Marians from different decades updated each other and shared memories of our school. We even managed to squeeze in our school song!
Thank you, Ms Richards, for hosting us, thank you to the Alumni team for organizing, and everyone for contributing and joining us.
Wishing everyone the very best this holiday season!

Nothing could dampen the St. Marian spirit! True to our motto, the sun came out shining to nudge us towards its glory. Teachers, parents, volunteers and especially our beloved children, had a smashing time from the beginning to the end. Bouncy castle, bundled clothings, sand arts, wack the quack, petting zoo, karaoke, e-games cafe, Sanrio merchandise, St. Mary's 3D-printed keychains, benjo, fruits and desserts, pop corn, laksa, nasi minyak, ayam masak merah, oden, mee/meehoon goreng, keropok lekor, air balang were all SOLD OUT before the event was over. Massive turnout!
Here are the videos that we volunteers managed to record and some more photos. We had our hands full but it was really fun!

It started with some minor downpour but it ended with a bang!!! What a turnout. Food and drinks were sold out around 1.30pm and the teachers had to call reinforcements. But everyone managed to do their duties well so give yourselves a pat in the back ya!
Kudos to the PIBG, the School, parents and our ever ready alumni volunteers for making this Karnival Sanrio World a superb event.
More pictures and videos coming in later.

This is proof that the St. Marians spirit lives on!
As you might have known, our beloved club has been invited by our primary school PIBG to join hands in organising Karnival Sanrio World, which will be held this Saturday 13 December 2025. We were actually given a specific target: to sell at least 300 sets of coupons. And voila! Not only did we surpassed the target, the total amount of RM collected is more than 10% of the school's overall coupon sales target which is RM100,000!! Now that is superb teamwork!!
On behalf of the organising committee chairlady Puan Azraini, our SK PIBG YDP Mr. Aloysious, our SK headmistress Puan Siew, teachers, staffs and especially the students of SK St. Mary, I would like to express our utmost gratitude towards this benevolent effort in raising funds towards upgrading the school's facilities.
It is truly an honour to represent a club that is a force to be reckon with. I am truly proud of all club members and especially our House Captains; Ira (Pring), Siew Khim (Playne), Mimi (Pope) and Eunice (McNeil). Your hard work willl not go in vain.
Now let's go and have a joyful day at the Karnival!
