From Serbia to Bosnia — continuing the journey of global engagement

After concluding our mobility engagements in Serbia, AHIBS UTM extended its international visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina through a staff benchmarking visit to the University of Sarajevo.

The visit focused on understanding the university’s:
- Research ecosystem
- Academic programme structure
- AACSB accreditation journey and experiences

The engagement provided valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange, benchmarking and meaningful discussions on academic quality, internationalisation and future collaboration.

Innovation meets food technology 🍏✨

AHIBS was proud to be part of the FOOD TECH REVOLUTION Seminar held today at the National Centre for Food Safety (NCFS), bringing together industry professionals, technologists, academics, and innovators to explore the future of the food industry through Design Thinking and innovation.

Organised by MBOT (TTWG Food Technology) in collaboration with MAFSA, CFoST, and AHIBS UTM, the seminar also highlighted the strong involvement of our MSc FOODI alumni and esteemed alumni speakers who shared valuable real-world insights and industry experiences.

AHIBS talents, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haliyana Khalid, shared insightful perspectives on Design Thinking, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maizaitulaidawati Md Husin introduced participants to the opportunities and industry relevance of the MSc Food Processing Innovation (MSc FOODI) programme.

The session reflected AHIBS’ continuous commitment towards industry collaboration, lifelong learning, and producing future-ready professionals in food innovation and technology.

Expanding horizons beyond the classroom

Recently, our DBA APEL Q students embarked on an enriching international mobility experience to Serbia under the Future-Oriented Residency for Global Executives (FORGE) initiative.

The delegation visited the University of Belgrade and the University of Novi Sad, where they had the opportunity to meet with the Rector and gain deeper insights into the university’s academic and internationalisation ecosystem.

In Novi Sad, the students also visited the university’s research institute, allowing them to better understand the role of research and innovation in driving academic and societal impact.

Beyond academia, the mobility included engagements with industry through Vlatacom Research Institute, exposure to governance at the Parliament in Belgrade and immersion into the rich cultural and historical heritage of Novi Sad and Belgrade.

More than just an international visit, the programme connected students with academia, research, industry, governance and culture, offering a holistic global learning experience.

We are especially proud that this marks UTM’s first step in building relationships in Serbia, with AHIBS at the forefront of this meaningful international engagement.
