Stay Afloat: Navigating Climate Change

Bringing together Orang Asli participants from MEGA and students from Singaporean International School, Stay Afloat: Navigating Climate Change was a workshop held on 2 May 2026. Organized by Youth Beyond Boundaries (YBB) as part of the Culture Connect Project 2026 by the Patatas, the programme aimed to foster cross-cultural learning and environmental awareness through interactive engagement, with support from UCSI University.

Guided by invited speaker Ms. Lyvia (Wander Wild), participants explored real-world climate scenarios through an interactive simulation game. They experienced how different decisions impact environmental and community outcomes in real time, encouraging critical thinking, collaboration, and awareness of climate-related challenges.

The workshop highlighted the importance of collective action and informed decision-making in addressing climate change, while strengthening teamwork and understanding between diverse participant groups. It served as a meaningful platform to inspire sustainable thinking and shared responsibility towards a more resilient future.

Urban Tree Planting Programme 🌱

On 9 May 2026, the Faculty of Business & Management organised an Urban Tree Planting Programme at Taman Tasik Permaisuri, Kuala Lumpur, in collaboration with Free Tree Society and Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL). Led by Noor Zira Azlin, Lecturer from the Department of Management Studies, the initiative aimed to promote environmental stewardship and climate resilience through active community involvement in urban reforestation efforts, in support of SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Prior to the planting activity, Puan Suhaila, representative from DBKL, conducted a briefing session on proper tree-planting techniques to ensure healthy growth and long-term sustainability. The programme brought together 30 staff and students, who collectively planted 11 Simpoh trees. The planting of Simpoh trees contributes positively to urban biodiversity as the species supports local ecosystems by providing food and habitat for insects and birds, while also improving green cover and enhancing ecological resilience in urban areas.

This initiative reflects a continued commitment to fostering greener urban spaces through meaningful collaboration and active participation in sustainability-focused activities. It also strengthens environmental awareness, experiential learning, and shared responsibility towards ecosystem conservation within the university community.

Humanitarian Technology & Engineering Aid Programme (HTEAP) 2026 ✨

A heartfelt thank you to all collaborators and volunteers who made HTEAP 2026 a meaningful success. What was initially planned for 50 recipients turned into support for 55 asnaf families, reflecting the strong spirit of teamwork and compassion.

The distribution required extra care and coordination, as many recipients were elderly and some bedridden. Through dedication and unity, our team ensured that essential food and financial aid reached those who needed it most.

Special appreciation to our partners, volunteers, and the village community for their invaluable cooperation and commitment. Together, we turned compassion into action and created real impact. 💙🌍
