📸 Snapshot from our Exercise Metabolism presentation!
Our MSc in Clinical Exercise Science students presented and discussed research articles on exercise metabolism mechanisms. One study sparked a lively debate comparing whole-body HIIT vs jump-rope HIIT. Interestingly, jumping led to faster fat loss, while whole-body HIIT showed better muscle metabolic efficiency. 💪🔥
The students explored why jumping promotes more fat oxidation, highlighting factors like greater ground reaction force, elastic energy recycling, and higher energy cost per movement.
🧠 Take-home note: If your goal is fat loss, keep jumping! But if you aim for muscle metabolic efficiency, go for whole-body HIIT. 🏋️♀️🏃♂️

Another excellent output from our TCE 504: Children’s Exercise Physiology class. This case study on “The Young Weightlifter” was prepared by Liu Yu Chen, Yin Wen Jin, and Shen Hao Jun, showcasing their understanding of growth, maturation, resistance-training safety, and evidence-based programming for young athletes. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

They highlighted key cardiorespiratory differences between children and adults, including heart rate, stroke volume, VO₂, metabolism, and training recommendations.
