At Raffles homeschool joyfully celebrated Chinese New Year with exciting and meaningful activities. The children came dressed in red traditional outfits and learned about the importance of reunion, gratitude, and good fortune during this festive season.
They took part in the traditional Yee Sang tossing, where everyone gathered together to mix and toss the ingredients high while saying auspicious wishes for prosperity and success. This activity taught them about unity and positive blessings for the new year.
The children also enjoyed a fun peanut picking game using chopsticks. This activity helped to improve their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and focus while making the celebration even more exciting and interactive.
To end the celebration, the children shared festive treats and exchanged well wishes. It was a joyful day filled with cultural learning, teamwork, and laughter. 🧧✨

Motor Skills Activity – 10/2/26: Blind Cup Grab
In this activity, children will wear a blindfold and rely on their sense of touch and memory to locate and move cups around a designated area. Without the help of sight, they must carefully feel the position of the cups, plan their movements, and remember where each cup is placed. This exciting challenge not only makes them more aware of their body movements but also strengthens their hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and spatial memory.
Blind Cup Grab also encourages children to focus and concentrate, as they need to control their movements carefully to avoid knocking over the cups. The activity fosters problem-solving and body control, while giving children a fun and safe way to develop confidence in their physical abilities. Overall, it’s a playful and engaging exercise that combines learning with movement, helping children improve both their cognitive and motor skills simultaneously.

First, we used tape to carefully form our name on a piece of paper. We made sure the tape was placed neatly so the letters were clear. Next, we painted all around the tape using bright and colourful paints. We explored different colours and filled the paper with fun patterns and strokes. After the paint was completely dry, we slowly removed the tape. Our name appeared clean and clear against the colourful background. This activity helped us improve our fine motor skills, creativity, and name recognition. It was an enjoyable and exciting art activity that made us feel proud of our work. 🎨✨
