Ramadhan Mubarak from our IHS students!

When Ramadan enters, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hellfire are closed and the devils are chained.

On the 2nd of March, we had our first Family Day! It was such a beautiful day, the sun was really on our side.

It only rained sporadically, and the kids were so happy it happened during the treasure hunt because they could use 'playing in the rain' as an excuse as they were looking for clues!

Earlier in the morning we had a telematch, with parents and kids all split into different groups. We competed in classic games such as gunny-sack race, egg and spoon race, "tarik upih", to name a few.

After a quick rest and prize presentation, the dads got together to start the barbecue, while the mums prepared.

All in all it was definitely an event to be remembered and we thank our amazing IHS family who worked hard to make this event one to remember!

Boys will be boys ya? Even when it's time to clean the class, there must be some sort of play included.

Besides academics, the children of IHS also have to take care of their own personal space, i.e their classrooms. Apart from that they have a weekly duty roster - who throws the rubbish, who sets up the lunch area etc.

This is all part of teaching them to be responsible towards themselves, towards others, towards their school. Everybody chips in and no child is above any other.

At the end of the day we hope that this will instill a sense of discipline in them to also help around the house, no matter whether they're 7, or 17.

Our first traditional archery training for 2024! All the children were excited and it was quite chaotic before the coach arrived. But as usual, Coach Rino was able to manage the archers and training very well.

Alhamdulillah ❤️

Yesterday was the first day of school!

Sorry for the late update. We had so much fun that I had many, many pictures to go through.

It was a wet, wet morning. One of the worst days this monsoon season.

The continuous rain did not dampen the spirits of the kids, everyone was nice and on time.

Orientation day.

We started off with dhuha and mathurat, as we do. Ustaz then conducted an al-Kahfi circle, with a teaser on surah al-Kahfi.

Then after getting to know each other in each respective classes, we got together for our next activity.

Using playdough to represent yourself. The kids came up with some interesting models, as can be seen in the pictures.

Post break, we had a Math and Science circle where we used marshmallows and toothpicks to build the tallest structure. The catch was we couldn't use our thumbs.

The kids really appreciated their thumbs after that 😆

To end the morning session we had physical activities. Probably the most awaited session all day because of all that energy they had.

Lunch and Zohor followed next. Then before ending the day, the kids calmed down by doing some origami where they made a flapping bird. The session was conducted by one of the older students.

All in all a good, fun day! Now class starts and the real work begins!

To commemorate the new school year, the school decided to go out with the old (signboard) and in with the new (amazing signboard).

Our resident handyman (I can say that because I live with him 🤭) and current Amir of our syura, together with Mr. Shawal (outgoing Amir, boss) worked together to put the sign up last night.

Looks amazing, doesn't it?

Last day of school holidays!

School's starting soon. The dads have done a great job getting the school ready for a fresh new year.

Now the teachers need to figure out how to decorate their space.

Wish us luck! What do you think we should have in our space?
