Last week’s exercise was not just about answering questions.

It was a small reminder for our SPM students: exams are important, but the future needs more than just exam results.

Communication, discipline, problem-solving, confidence, responsibility, and the ability to keep learning will matter a lot.

The world is changing fast. Those who stop learning after exams may survive. Those who keep building skills will thrive.

SPM is one checkpoint, not the finish line.

Today, I came across something concerning that reminded me why education is not only about exams.

I saw one of my students in a WhatsApp group where students were being exposed to messages about “easy money”, quick trading profits, passive income, luxury lifestyles, and people claiming they know exactly when things will go up or down.

I will not mention any school or anyone’s name, because the purpose is not to blame. The purpose is awareness.

To be clear, learning about money is not wrong. Investing is not wrong. Even trading, when done properly, requires knowledge, discipline, risk management, and maturity.

But what worries me is that some of these messages are not innocent sharing. They can feel like predators hunting for prey, using screenshots, cars, cash, “guaranteed” confidence, and the dream of easy money to attract young students who may not fully understand the risks yet.

That is where guidance becomes important.

Parents, please pay attention to what your children are exposed to online and in group chats. Sometimes, the influence does not look dangerous at first. It may look exciting, smart, successful, or “motivational”. But if it teaches children to chase shortcuts without understanding the risks, we need to step in.

As educators, our job is not only to help students improve their grades. We also want them to think clearly, ask better questions, and recognise when something may not be as simple as it looks.

Real success is rarely built through shortcuts.

It is built through knowledge, patience, discipline, values, and wise decisions.

So today, this became a lesson too: Not just academics, but life awareness.

Students need to know this early:

If something sounds too easy, pause first.
If someone says success is guaranteed, think twice.
If money is used to impress you, ask what they are really trying to sell.

Choose wisdom.
Choose real growth.

For the group of students behind this insidious act, please stop. It's not too late to U-turn.

Today, we played **Grammar Fort Battle** in class.

It is a game we recently created to make English learning more engaging, while encouraging students to work together, think quickly, and use their grammar skills under pressure. It was a 5v5 friendly match. Losers had to copy the next exercise.

The best part?

Everyone was involved.
Everyone was laughing.
Everyone was trying very hard not to let their team’s fort collapse.

Learning English does not always have to be boring. With the right activity, students can practise, compete, communicate, and improve at the same time.

Today’s class was fun, lively, and surprisingly intense.

English + teamwork + a little bit of battlefield chaos = a very memorable lesson.

We celebrated our students’ accomplishments with full hearts and happy stomachs. As a small reward for all their hard work, we treated them to some of the best burgers in town. A big thank you to Cheers and Toast for the wonderful burgers and for making the celebration even more enjoyable.

We also spent some time playing games together, and of course, the students got to bring home some prizes too. Just a little something for them to remember this day by.

Seeing their smiles, laughter, and excitement reminds us why we do what we do. We are so proud of every bit of effort they have put in. Their achievements are not just results on paper. They are proof of persistence, growth, and courage.

Well done, everyone. Keep going, keep improving, and keep making yourselves proud. More milestones to come.

P/S: For those who could not make it to our farewell party, perhaps fate will bring us together again one day. When that day comes, we will probably arrange a little something too.

Watching them grow, overcome challenges, and finally achieve their goals, it’s truly one of the best feelings as a tutor. We're just glad we could be a small part of their journey, guiding them along the way.
