MIA Northern Regional Office in collaboration with the Inland Revenue Board Malaysia, Pulau Pinang recently organised a virtual briefing on Tax Audit & Investigation and Special Voluntary Disclosure Programme (SVDP) 2.0 updates. En Syarein Abu Samah, the State Operations Director from the Investigation Section shared some insights and provided updates on tax audit and investigation, e-invoicing and SVDP 2.0. The Northern Regional Committee recently paid a courtesy visit to Puan Norfaidah Daud, the Penang State Director of the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) and her team. The primary purpose of this visit was to strengthen the working relationship between the accountancy professionals and the tax authorities and, also to enhance collaboration and cooperation in tax compliance matters with the tax authorities. Practitioners are invited to attend a complimentary virtual networking session between Malaysian and Indonesian firms, a collaboration by the MIA and Institut Akuntan Publik Indonesia (IAPI), which aims to connect Malaysian and Indonesian accountancy firms that are interested in various modes of affiliation for mutual benefit.

Recently, the MIA Northern Regional Office organised a Wellness Walk at the Mengkuang Dam. We were delighted to have 39 members and staff from various member firms joining us for this event.

Mengkuang Dam, Penang's largest dam, provided a breathtaking backdrop of lush green hills and a picturesque reservoir. As we embarked on our walk, we embraced the stunning scenery while engaging in exercise and fostering connections.
