Ramadan Care Project by our young learners — nurturing the love of giving from a young age. 🌙✨
From collecting donations (they even made their own money collection containers!), to packing and preparing the food packs — every step was done by them with care.
Stay tuned to see how our children made this meaningful project happen. ❤️

“..written language is a code and students need to crack that code to become readers. They need to understand how the words they say and sound they hear connect with the words and letters on the page. Many students need direct and explicit instruction in that code to develop as readers.” Lindsay Kemeny
❌ Reading skills are acquired naturally.
✅ Reading skills are learned and require explicit instruction.

Reading early is impressive.
Reading with understanding is powerful!
💜We’re not here to produce children who can read fast at 5.
We’re here to nurture children who can think, analyse, and comprehend deeply at 10, 15, and beyond!💜
Because true reading is not about speed.
It’s about understanding.
When we guide our students to read, we focus on six key developmental areas, grounded in the Science of Reading (as explained in Scarborough’s Reading Rope and Simple View of Reading):
1️⃣ Language development — understanding and expressing spoken words
2️⃣ Listening skills — making meaning from what is heard
3️⃣ Clear articulation — producing sounds accurately
4️⃣ Phonological awareness & decoding — connecting sounds to print
5️⃣ Fluency — reading accurately with appropriate pace and expression
6️⃣ Comprehension — constructing meaning from text
We begin with strong oral language foundations.
Children must first be able to listen, understand, and articulate sounds clearly before reading can truly develop.
We do not rush the process due to syllabus pressure or expectations.
We focus on laying the right foundation — because weak foundations show up later. 😔
From Day 1, we prioritise:
✔ Understanding spoken language
✔ Expressing ideas confidently
✔ Making meaning from stories
✔ Daily reading at school and at home
Parents are our partners. Reading to your child every day builds vocabulary, thinking, and comprehension — long before fluent reading appears.
Some say, “Comprehension comes later.”
But research shows otherwise!
According to the Simple View of Reading:
Reading Comprehension = Decoding × Language Comprehension
You cannot multiply by zero!
When children are trained to memorise and read quickly without understanding, they may sound fluent — but struggle later when texts become complex.
Malaysia’s results in PISA show that many students struggle with deeper reading skills — interpreting, analysing, and thinking critically about what they read. 😔
Reading early may be what parents want.
Reading with understanding is what children need — let’s build readers who truly grasp the meaning, not just say the words.

What do we really want for our children when it comes to food?
Do we want them to simply know which food is “healthy” — or to grow up feeling confident, curious, and positive about eating?
Raising children with healthy eating habits cannot be done by ticking boxes on worksheets.
Sorting pictures of “healthy” and “unhealthy” food may teach concepts, but it rarely shapes how a child actually experiences food.
At Muhsin Kids, we nurture this differently:
🍽️ Eating real food daily in a calm, unhurried environment
🌿 Cozy mealtime routines — no rushing, no forcing
🌎 Exposure to unfamiliar food through cultural celebrations
👩🏻🍳 Frequent I-Can-Cook sessions so children feel proud to taste what they prepare.
We can’t promise every picky eater will suddenly love all food.
But Alhamdulillah, children who grow with us often show beautiful progress — more openness, more confidence, and more willingness to try.
Because preschool is not just about academics or play.
It is about raising healthy, resilient, and holistically nurtured individuals — in body, heart, mind, and character. ❤️

Recent news about caregivers abusing children at childcare centres is deeply heartbreaking and worrying. Every child deserves to feel safe, protected, and respected. There is no excuse for abuse in any form.
At the same time, it’s important to understand that the role of a caregiver or preschool teacher is far more complex than many realise. Teaching young children is not only about academics — young children are still learning how to be human.
Many are still developing the ability to communicate clearly, understand and manage emotions, follow routines, share and take turns, and be independent (toileting, dressing, managing belongings).
In today’s world, we also see challenges like excessive gadget exposure, limited real-life interaction, shorter attention spans, and low frustration tolerance.
When words fail, children express through behaviour — biting, hitting, pushing, kicking, throwing objects, screaming, tantrums, refusing to cooperate, or shutting down. These moments can happen unexpectedly throughout the day.
This is where trained early childhood educators are needed. Our role is not to punish, but to guide:
✨ Proactively — teaching social-emotional skills through lessons, modelling, stories, and routines
✨ Reactively — calmly guiding children through real conflicts and big feelings in the moment
Because this work is emotionally demanding, teacher training and teacher wellbeing are essential.
At MuhsinKids Preschool, our teachers attend weekly in-house training, especially in social-emotional learning, alongside continuous professional development with experienced external trainers. We also prioritise strong team communication and support so teachers don’t feel overwhelmed — because a supported teacher can better support children.
Parents are important partners too. Consistent, positive communication between parents and teachers helps us understand each child better and provide guidance that is consistent between home and school.
Creating a safe environment for children starts with caring for the adults who care for them — and working hand in hand with families. ❤️

Balancing activities are more than just fun and movement for young children.
They play an important role in developing the vestibular system — a sensory system that helps children understand balance, body position and movement.
When children balance, climb, tiptoe or move carefully, their brains are learning how to:
• coordinate both sides of the body
• maintain posture and stability
• improve focus and attention
• build confidence in moving through space
A well-developed vestibular system supports everyday skills like sitting calmly, writing, listening, reading and even emotional regulation.
During the first few weeks of school at MuhsinKids Preschool, our focus is on understanding each child holistically — not only their reading or counting skills, but also their communication, physical development, life skills and social-emotional growth. This helps us to plan lessons for each child - yes, each child matters! 🥰
Balancing activities are part of this process, as they help us observe how children move, regulate themselves and interact with their environment. Through playful, pressure-free experiences, children build strong foundations for learning and life, in shaa Allah.

After listening to the story Bulat, Bulat… Tidak Bulat! by Rasyidah Yusof, our muhsineen extended their learning through a hands-on experience — making apam pisang! And yes… it’s kind of bulat too! 😁
This meaningful after-reading activity helps young children build background knowledge while gradually strengthening their comprehension skills. Along the way, they develop fine motor skills, practise listening and following instructions, learn to cooperate with friends, and take responsibility by tidying up after their work.
This is how children learn at Muhsin Kids Preschool. ❤️ They don’t learn subjects in isolation, nor are they confined to the same classroom every single day. Instead, learning is integrated, meaningful, and often playful — sparking curiosity and encouraging children to explore more and learn more. Before we know it, by the will of Allah, they naturally acquire the skills they need for both academic learning and life.
What a wonderful way to start the year! Alhamdulillah!
Brace yourselves, children — we have tonnes of amazing activities planned throughout the year, In shaa Allah! 💛

A heartfelt thank you to Puan Mursyidah for the sincere and meaningful sharing.
We are truly touched to know that both she and her husband are happy with the progress they see in their child. Your kind words and trust mean so much to us — and we receive them with deep gratitude and humility.
At Muhsin Kids, we believe childhood is not about rushing towards end results, but about honouring the process — the small, meaningful steps children take as they grow and learn. Through gentle guidance, we help children develop skills step by step, without pressure, while respecting and preserving their childhood years.
This year, we’ve planned many more thoughtful and purposeful activities, with the hope of supporting each individual child in laying a strong foundation — not just for school, but for life.
Thank you for trusting us with something so precious. Together, we nurture, guide, and grow. ❤️

1. Peringkat perkembangan akar: 0-6 tahun
2. Peringkat peneguhan batang pokok: 7-12 tahun
3. Peringkat percambahan dahan: 13-18 tahun
