Permohonan untuk kemasukan sesi 2023 program ijazah sarjana berkembar UniKL-IHE Delft Institute for Water Education Netherlands masih dibuka. Untuk maklumat lanjut layari laman web

On September 6, 2023, the Deputy Ambassador and Head of Economic Section of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Embassy, Mrs. Eva Oskam, paid a courtesy call to the Universiti Kuala Lumpur Centre of Water Engineering Technology (CWET) and attended the UniKL â IHE Delft Double-Degree Program Engagement Session. The Deputy Ambassador was received on arrival by top management of the Universiti Kuala Lumpur headed by the President / CEO Datuk Dr. Roziah Omar. Also present were the management of Universiti Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia France Institute and representative from the MARA Education Sponsorship Division.
The visit strengthened the established academic collaboration between UniKL and Netherlands educational institutions in developing the water engineering education model in the countryâs technical education system. UniKL and IHE Delft the Netherlands (IHE Delft) have entered into a close collaboration since 2020 with the first intake of the Master of Science double-degree program. Organized by CWET as part of the governmentâs initiative under the Eleventh Malaysia Plan (11MP), the UniKL â IHE Delft double degree program demonstrates the aspiration of the University in building talents for the new innovation-led water sector emphasizing on globalisation, fresh new skills and knowledge which can be transferred to the workforce of the future.
Established as a benchmark in strengthening academic development, the double degree program is one of the cross-border institutional cooperation between UniKL CWET and renowned international partners in water engineering. IHE Delft is the largest international graduate water education facility in the world operating as a Dutch Foundation under the auspices of UNESCO. During the visit, Mrs. Eva also had the opportunity to visit the CWET laboratories, inspected the teaching and research facilities, and had a lively exchange with representatives of the double-degree programme students.

âGod created the Earth, but the Dutch created the Netherlandsâ
For 700 years the Dutch have developed their expertise in keeping their country dry.
âNetherlandsâ literally means âlower countriesâ in reference to its low elevation and flat topography. Most of this small country is actually below sea level, with only about 50% of its land exceeding 1 metre above sea level. Theyâve had to build mighty dikes to protect their communities, and worked to hold back and reclaim land from the sea for over 2000 years, thus affirming the old Dutch adage âGod created the Earth, but the Dutch created the Netherlands.â
Utilizing Dutch engineering expertise and water management, UniKL and the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education (IHE Delft - formerly known as UNESCO IHE) are partnering in establishing the Master of Science Double-Degree Programme (DDP). The UniKL-IHE Delft DDP is offered under an approved collaboration in accordance with the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), the national quality assurance agency of Malaysia and the Netherlands Flemish Accreditation Organisation (NVAO), a quality assurance agency that safeguards the quality of higher education in the Netherlands and Flanders.
The DDP is a unique academic programme that allows students to graduate with two different Master of Science degrees in two different disciplines. It allows students to complete both degrees in less time than it would take to complete both degrees separately. After two semesters at IHE Delft and two more here at UniKL, our students will earn a full second degree (Master of Science in Water Science and Engineering) in addition to a Master of Science degree in Water and Hydropower Engineering from UniKL. Another big benefit is the added international experience - not only have they lived and studied for a whole year in another country, but they have also gained valuable business and cultural insights, and soft skills that are relevant in today's globalized world.
New intake is in progress. To learn more about the programme and the opportunity to DOUBLE UP the experience by studying both in Malaysia and the Netherlands go to

Water quality assessment provides the base line information on water safety. Qualitative and quantitative measurements are needed to guarantee the purity of water before usage. Basic analytical chemistry principles and understanding water quality parameters, their properties, measurement techniques, and control technologies are among the required skills on the art of quantitative water quality analysis. Nevertheless, there is a necessity to continuously look into the water quality standards. This is a problem that can greatly benefit from in-line water sensing technology. Emphasizing on digitalisation, a dedicated training reservoir housed within the UniKL-CWET building is equipped with state-of-the-art IoT-based real-time water quality monitoring system developed in partnership with the French based Veolia Group.

The precise and reliable simulation of hydrologic and hydraulic processes is important for efficient flood forecasting and warning.
At the UniKLâs Center for Water Engineering Technology, students are learning in an autonomous way on accurate flood forecasting using computer controlled system which integrates hydrological-hydraulic model, network of sensors, actuators and gauges in a real-time visualization environment.
An automated procedure was developed for linking dynamically terrestrial rainfall-runoff processes and river hydraulics using Computer Control System (SCADA).

Assessments of the vulnerability of hydropower system and of the impact of extreme hydro-climatic events are crucial for decision-makers, and yet often they are severely constrained by data scarcity. Here, we introduce and validate an energy-climate-water framework linking remotely-sensed data from satellite missions and instruments and field observations. The platform exploits data from satellites, machine learning algorithms, and regression analysis to mitigate data scarcity and improves the understanding the impact of hydroclimatic extremes on hydropower reliability.
