Pada 7 Julai 2026, IDFR telah mengadakan pertemuan dengan pihak Sekolah Kebangsaan Kundor dan komuniti Kampung Kundor Hilir bagi membincangkan pelaksanaan inisiatif Sekolah Angkat MADANI dan Kampung Angkat MADANI 2026.

Sesi ini memberi peluang kepada pihak sekolah dan komuniti setempat untuk berkongsi pandangan serta mengemukakan cadangan penambahbaikan kemudahan dan infrastruktur yang memerlukan perhatian. Turut dibincangkan ialah pelaksanaan program pembangunan komuniti yang dapat memberikan manfaat berterusan kepada warga sekolah dan penduduk kampung. Projek-projek ini akan dilaksanakan dan disiapkan sebelum penghujung tahun 2026.

On 6 July 2026, IDFR welcomed a delegation of course participants from the ‘Kolej Perisikan Angkatan Tentera Malaysia’ for a study visit.

The programme commenced with welcoming remarks by Dato’ Agus Salim Yusof, Director of the Management Services Division, followed by an introductory speech by the visiting delegation, a briefing by Encik Mohd Fareed Zakaria, Director of the Policy Planning and Coordination Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Malaysia’s role in ASEAN and current security, political, and economic issues, followed by an interactive Q&A session.

The “English Writing Workshop” was recently conducted by the Centre for Languages and Cultural Diplomacy (CLCD) from 23 to 25 June 2026 at IDFR, Kuala Lumpur.

The course gathered participants from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia as well as several government agencies, with a shared focus on strengthening professional English writing for workplace use.

The three-day workshop placed strong emphasis on practical application, with participants engaging in guided writing tasks and receiving continuous feedback from facilitators. The outcomes of the workshop are expected to support participants in producing more structured, precise, and professional workplace documents in their respective capacities.

On 3 July 2026, the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) welcomed a delegation from the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) of the Philippines. The delegation was led by Hon. Neil Frank R. Ferrer, Director-General of FSI, and received by Dato’ Zainol Rahim Zainuddin, Director-General of IDFR.

The meeting marks the beginning of a new chapter of collaboration between the Philippines Foreign Service Institute (FSI) and the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), particularly in the field of artificial intelligence in diplomacy and international relations.

It is hoped that this engagement will serve as a catalyst for stronger cooperation among diplomatic institutions across ASEAN.

The Centre for Languages and Cultural Diplomacy (CLCD) is pleased to announce the successful completion of the MTCP – Diplomatic English for Hosting ASEAN Meetings, held from 16 to 18 June 2026 in Dili, Timor-Leste.

The three-day programme brought together 40 officers from various ministries and government agencies of Timor-Leste to strengthen their competencies in hosting and participating in ASEAN meetings under the auspices of the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP). Throughout the course, the participants delved into key areas of diplomatic language and ASEAN meetings such as agenda management, ASEAN documentation, meeting facilitation, consensus-building, and outcome document drafting, culminating in a mock ASEAN meeting exercise.

Kudos to all participants on successfully completing the programme! We hope that the wealth of knowledge gained throughout the course may enhance participants’ contributions to ASEAN meetings and processes in support of Timor-Leste’s regional engagement and diplomatic efforts.

The Centre for Languages and Cultural Diplomacy (CLCD), IDFR, successfully conducted the Speech Writing for Mid-Level Officers course from 3 to 5 June 2026 at IDFR, Kuala Lumpur.

The three-day course brought together Grade 12 and Grade 13 officers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, various ministries and government agencies to strengthen their ability to craft strategic, persuasive and policy-aligned speeches for official and senior-level contexts.

Through guided drafting workshops, peer review and trainer feedback, participants developed complete speech drafts that reflected clarity, coherence and strategic intent.

The programme reflects IDFR’s continued commitment to enhancing professional communication skills among government officers through practical and targeted training.

On 25 June 2026, IDFR welcomed 16 participants of the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) for the programme “Science Diplomacy for the Global South”, organised by the International Institute of Science Diplomacy and Sustainability (IISDS), UCSI University.

The programme began with an introduction by the MTCP delegation, followed by the screening of IDFR’s corporate video and a presentation titled “An Overview of IDFR” delivered by Mr Haris Syarwani Razali, Principal Assistant Director, Management Services Division, IDFR.

The visit also featured an interactive Q&A session, providing participants with valuable insights into IDFR’s role in strengthening diplomatic capacity and advancing international relations.

On 16 June 2026, IDFR launched its latest book, The Rising Sun: Timor-Leste’s Journey to Peace and Development at Hilton Kuala Lumpur.

The publication was officially launched by H.E. José Ramos-Horta, President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, alongside YB Dato Lukanisman Awang Sauni, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia. The launch was witnessed by Dato’ Zainol Rahim Zainuddin, Director General of the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations, and Mr Simon Fellows, Acting High Commissioner of the Australian High Commission in Malaysia.

The book launch was held in conjunction with a Distinguished Lecture delivered by the President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, titled, “Navigating Turbulent Times, Pursuing Peace.” During his Distinguished Lecture, the President shared valuable reflections on overcoming geopolitical challenges through courage, empathy, and principled leadership.

The book is the outcome of a trilateral research collaboration between Malaysia, Australia, and Timor-Leste. It documents Timor-Leste’s journey from conflict to peace and development, highlighting the collective efforts of local Timorese leaders, communities, and international partners such as Malaysia and Australia.

Authored by IDFR Expert Researcher Dr Murni Wan Mohd Nor and Research Officer Nurul Farhah Ab Aziz, the publication contributes valuable insights into peacebuilding, resilience, and regional cooperation.
