ALOR SETAR, 20 November 2025 - AIU proudly participated in the ASEAN School of Youth Leadership (YouLead) 2025 held from 14โ19 November at AKEPT, bringing together emerging student leaders from across the ASEAN region. The programme focused on shaping future-ready youth grounded in DEIB values and sustainability.
Officiated by Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, YB Tan Sri Datoโ Dr. Johari Abdul, the event emphasised the responsibilities of young leaders in contributing meaningfully to the regionโs development.
The four-day programme gathered 110 student delegates representing 11 ASEAN countries, creating a platform for strengthening leadership networks and fostering collaboration among youth. Participants engaged in team-building activities, cultural exchanges, music showcases, and study visits, while also connecting with delegates from the Global Youth Work Conference 2025.
Throughout the programme, students had the opportunity to learn from Ministers, Ambassadors, Vice-Chancellors, and geopolitical experts who shared insights on democracy, ethics, governance, and leadership challenges in a rapidly evolving region.
A key focus of YouLead 2025 was on global megatrends such as innovation, futures thinking, situational analysis, and strategic planningโequipping students with leadership frameworks centred on foresight and adaptability.
AIU participant Khant Eaint Hmoo reflected: โThe greatness that we get is not rewarded; it's the debt we have to pay back to others who didnโt get the greatness at that moment. InshaAllah, I hope to share the lessons from YouLead with our fellow students at AIU.โ
YouLead 2025 was jointly organised by AKEPT, UKM, UPSI, UPNM, and EMGS, marking a meaningful step in shaping globally minded ASEAN youth leaders.
