The Society of Orthopsterologists

With nearly 300 members from 60 countries and 6 continents, this international organization is dedicated to connecting people interested in the order Orthoptera (grasshoppers, crickets, grasshoppers, etc.) and the other 9 orders of insects that make up Polyneoptera ("orthopteroids"): Blattodea (+Isoptera), Dermaptera, Embioptera, Grylloblattodea, Mantodea, Mantophasmatodea, Phasmida, Plecoptera, and Zoraptera.

It was founded in 1976 as the Pan-American Society of Acridology, by 35 orthopterists who met in San Martin de los Andes Argentina.

Two years later they were officially constituted and since then these meetings are known as International Orthopterology Congresses (ICOs) and occur every three or four years.

La Sociedad de Ortopterologistas

Con cerca de 300 miembros provenientes de 60 países y de los 6 continentes, este organismo internacional está dedicado a conectar personas interesadas en la orden Orthoptera (saltamontes, grillos, saltamontes, etc.) y los otros 9 órdenes de insectos que componen Polyneoptera ("orthopteroids"): Blattodea (+Isoptera), Dermaptera, Embioptera, Grylloblattodea, Mantodea, Mantophasmatodea, Phasmida, Plecoptera, y Zoraptera.

Fué fundada en 1976 como la sociedad Panamericana de Acridología, por 35 orthopteristas quienes se reunieron en San Martín de los Andes Argentina.

Dos años después fueron constituidos oficialmente y desde entonces dichas reuniones se conocen como Congresos Internacionales de Ortopterología (ICOs) y ocurren cada tres o cuatro años.
