betty reid soskin, the oldest serving national park service ranger in the US, passed away on december 21, 2025, at the age of 104. she was a trailblazer and a civil rights icon, musician, business owner, and park ranger who advocated for accurate representation of african american stories in national parks. soskin retired in March 2022 at the age of 100, after serving for 15 years.
