🎓📚 Another Module Successfully Done!

We have successfully completed the Principles and Development of Communication Strategy module for our first cohort in the Master of Arts in Strategic Communication programme at the University of Malawi.

Associate Professor Victor Chikaipa led the module and challenged students to explore the principles, processes, and practical applications of strategic communication in today's rapidly evolving communication landscape.

We commend our pioneering cohort for their active engagement, professionalism, and commitment to academic excellence throughout the module.

As we conclude this phase of the programme, we look forward to welcoming the students back later this month for the next module, Behavioural Sciences in Strategic Communication, which will further strengthen their understanding of communication, behaviour change, and strategic influence.

Congratulations to our students and Associate Prof for another important milestone in building communication professionals equipped to address contemporary societal and organisational challenges. 👏🎉

The students presented creative artefacts accompanied by compelling 8–10-minute pitches, demonstrating critical thinking, communication expertise, and persuasive storytelling skills developed throughout their studies.

As they now sit for their final examinations, we extend our best wishes to them and the entire MCS family. The graduation gowns and wisdom hats are calling — and they will surely look great on you this year.

MFD SOCIETY BIDS FAREWELL TO FINAL-YEAR STUDENTS

The Media for Development Society (MFD) on Friday evening hosted a farewell event for final-year students who are completing their studies in the Media for Development programme this year.

The event brought together students, academics, and media enthusiasts in a celebration of creativity, achievement, and professional growth.

Among the guests was Media and Communication Studies (MCS) Department lecturer Mr. Macneil Kalowekamo, who served as guest of honour.

In his remarks, he encouraged the graduating students to use the knowledge and skills they have acquired to drive meaningful social transformation through media.

“Make your presence felt through meaningful storytelling that attracts support and drives change,” said Kalowekamo.

Another lecturer from the department, Mr. Mphatso Zidana, urged students to actively build professional networks that can open doors to career and academic opportunities.

“Be proactive in building networks that will expose you to new opportunities and knowledge. There are many fellowships and scholarships that require such connections and engagement,” he said.

The farewell event featured music, dance, poetry, games, and the presentation of certificates to students who made significant contributions to the society and the MFD programme.

One of the award recipients, third-year student Atley Vumbwe, described the recognition as motivating and important for personal growth and career development.

Held under the theme “From Script to Impact,” the event highlighted the role of media and creativity in shaping future development communicators.
