Huge congratulations to Gabriel Banda, former President of the Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Society!

Gabriel has been selected as one of the 12 finalists out of over 53 applicants for the prestigious Falling Walls Lab pitching competition, hosted in partnership with LUANAR.

His innovative project on Nitrate Removal in Drinking Water Using Modified Activated Carbon earned him a well-deserved spot in the finals.

As the sole representative from UNIMA, he is proudly standing for both our department and society this afternoon.

Meet Ms Sharonie Chipeta a 4th year student, serving as the vice treasurer for the University of Malawi chemistry and chemical engineering society(umcces). 🥳

📚 Program: Bachelor of Science in Chemistry Honors [Female chemical engineer]

🎓Year: 4th year

We are excited to have Ms Sharonie Chipeta serving as the vice treasurer of the prestigious society of the University that God loves the most. Ms Chipeta noticed that so many young girls tend to run away from science just because of rumours which circulate around science mainly chemistry, some get mislead because they hear that chemistry is too hard and it is meant only for men. But Ms chipeta is said chemistry is meant for all.
And in her quote she said :

"To the young girls, do not let fear stop you"

My favorite branch of chemistry is the analytical chemistry. Finding what is in sample and how much is in the sample helps to solve real life problems in different fields. Said Ms chipeta

We look forward to her contribution as we continue building a vibrant and impactful community for our members.
