Most people don’t realize this…
Farmers don’t want to burn their fields.
They burn because it’s the fastest, cheapest way to clear crop waste.
The problem is — that smoke doesn’t stay local. It becomes part of the global air system we all share.
What’s interesting is that there’s a simple alternative that actually improves soil instead of destroying it.
It’s called biochar — basically turning waste into a kind of carbon-rich soil amendment instead of smoke.
We’ve been working with farmers in Thailand and Africa testing this, and the results have been… honestly kind of surprising.
Curious if anyone here has seen biochar in action or worked with farmers directly?

The journey forward is about building the right partnerships and staying rooted in solutions that truly work. Well done Kwanpirom Tara Suksri.
Great to have Kwanpirom Tara Suksri representing Biochar Life at the Angels & Founders event hosted by Antler in Singapore.
As we continue to develop the Aom Kiln and scale our work across Southeast Asia, our aim is to stay connected with the investor and innovation communities that are shaping the future of climate solutions.
Biochar sits at the intersection of carbon removal, sustainable agriculture, and air pollution reduction — and it’s encouraging to see growing interest in practical, scalable approaches.
Thanks to the Antler team for bringing together such a strong group of founders and investors!

Throwback to 2019 Biochar Training at Malawi College of Health Sciences, Zomba campus.
Student Nurses stepped beyond textbooks and Lecture Theater to take part in biochar training. What started as a simple workshop became a powerful experience in entrepreneurship, innovation, and hands-on problem solving.
They learned not just about science and soil, but how to turn knowledge into action, creating solutions that impact communities, climate, and livelihoods.
If you were part of this team, you were not just participating in a training, you were becoming part of a movement, shaping the future, and showing that real change starts when we dare to act.

A new chapter begins! Our 30 women biochar-trained farmers from Dowa district have signed their farmer agreement forms and successfully connected with a groundnuts broker, turning hard work into real opportunity.
Warm Heart provided seed funding on 21 Dec 2025, to be repaid after this year’s harvest.
This demonstrates the power of working together to improve livelihoods and build resilient biochar-farming communities.
