You can absolutely grow food successfully by working with nature. Overusing synthetic fertilizers and chemical pesticides not only damages soil life and harms the planet, but also poses risks to humans and other living things. This video highlights how simple, natural, and sustainable farming methods can revive ecosystems, boost biodiversity, heal degraded land, and build healthy soils, all while feeding people and helping to fight climate change. Today we celebrated by training community members from Group Village Headman Kafula in Lilongwe on how Permaculture and Agroforestry systems promote soil health. Participants got hands-on experience with key soil health practices, including preventing erosion and storing water through swales and ponds, keeping soil covered with mulch or cover crops, using farming methods that minimise disturbance, maintaining living roots year-round by planting trees, cover crops, and integrated crops, and boosting diversity through crop rotation, intercropping, and creating tomato guilds. They also learned to grow maize, sorghum, beans, pumpkins, cowpeas, lemongrass, and fruit trees in a syntropic agroforestry system. At the end of the day, participants received nitrogen-fixing trees to plant in their fields and energise the soils. Here’s to farming methods that nurture healthy soils and healthy lives. Great job to the Creative Solutions for the Environment team for leading this training.

This is demonstrable regeneration. This is a powerful example of ecological stewardship in action. The work Nkhalango. Forest Haven by Creative Solutions for the Environment showcases how regenerative agriculture and permaculture principles can restore degraded landscapes and build climate resilience. CSE is guided by Permaculture ethics — care for the earth, care for people, and fair share. The farming operations were designed around keyline water management system. A strategic natural water management system that enhances soil fertility, prevents erosion, and maximizes water retention, especially vital in regions facing erratic rainfall. Nkhalango serves as a living classroom, inspiring communities and policymakers with tangible proof that restoration is possible. CSE and Nkhalango empower local farmers with training in regenerative techniques that improve yields while healing the land. Building resilience against droughts and floods through smart water and soil management. Real climate solutions require true dedication and commitment to restoration.
