Education features highly in the COVID-19 Socio-Economic Recovery Plan (SERP) for the period between 2021 and 2023 unveiled by President Dr Lazarus Chakwera Tuesday evening at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe in his National Address.

President Chakwera says the SERP has among other areas identified opportunities in construction of secondary schools and digitalising of education.

The President mentioned construction of 34 secondary schools which he said 'must
start immediately.'

He also announced that the SERP 'includes interventions for digitalizing service delivery of governance, health, education, procurements, and payments to stop the leakage of resources.'

President Chakwera says the over half a trillion Kwacha SERP seeks to stimulate strategic parts of the economy with various interventions that would ensure that the country is on course with the Malawi 2063 first 10 year implementation plan.
