ST. MATTHEW’S ACADEMY

ASSISTANT TEACHERS (NANNIES) -2 POSTS

St. Matthew’s Academy in Area 49 is currently seeking the services of a caring, loving, trustworthy, punctual, compassionate, reliable, well presented and experienced Pre-school Assistant Teachers (Nannies). In this role, you will be expected to support teachers in various areas and aspects of their work and help children with their educational and social development, both in and out of the classroom and contribute to creation of a safe, compassionate home away from home for our little ones.

Remuneration: An attractive package will be provided based on qualification and experience.

Requirements and Qualification
• MSCE certificate or its equivalent.
• Good command of English.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
• Those with certificate in Early Childhood Development and Education will have an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Providing customized and personalized childcare for the children in the school.
• Administering one-on-one care and meets the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual needs of the children.
• Contributing to a safe, caring, nurturing, and stimulating environment in which the children thrive and develop.
• Helping children with feeding.
• Keeping the children’s areas neat and tidy.
• Changing children’s nappies and clothes.
• Welcoming children at school and dispatching them.
• Getting the classroom ready for lessons.
• Listening to children read, reading to them or telling them stories.
• Helping children who need extra support to complete tasks.
• Helping teachers to plan learning activities and complete records.
• Supporting teachers in managing class behaviour.
• Supervising group activities.
• Looking after children who are upset or have had accidents.
• Clearing away materials and equipment after lessons.
• Helping with outings and sports events.
• Taking part in training
• Carrying out administrative tasks.
• Any other duties as assigned.

STAFF VACANCY: QAULIFIED PRE-SCHOOL TEACHER
St. Matthew’s Academy in Area 49 is currently seeking a compassionate, reliable, experienced
pre-school teacher to join our thriving preschool facility. In this role, you will see to the
children’s basic and developmental needs, provide the enriching learning environment, and
create a safe, compassionate home away from home for the little ones.
Remuneration: An attractive package will be provided based on qualification and experience.
Requirements and Qualifications
• MSCE certificate or its equivalent.
• Diploma in Early Childhood Development and Education or T2 teacher qualification.
Those with Certificate in Early Childhood Development and Education with a minimum
of 3 years working experience in a professional child care setting or working as an
assistant teacher in a preschool shall also be considered. Those with Montessori or
Cambridge training will have an added advantage.
• Solid working knowledge of childhood development.
• Creativity, compassion, professionalism, and enthusiasm are a must
• Eloquent in English.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Design and implement educational, age appropriate lessons and activities.
• Fostering children's social, emotional, and cognitive development through play and
structured activities.
• Facilitate learning through various methods such as using play-based learning,
storytelling, music, art, and other engaging activities.
• Teach basic skills including colours, shapes, numbers, letters, and other foundational
skills.
• Promote social and emotional development by encouraging children to interact with each
other, share, take turns, and develop positive social skill.
• Create a stimulating and nurturing environment for young children.
• Work closely with parents to support their children's learning and development.
• Provide responsible care for all children with compassion.
• Uphold all safety standards and maintain a clean, sanitary and orderly classroom
• Maintain a professional attitude, respecting family privacy at all times
• Notify the school head director and parents about potential issues concerning learners.
• Remain in constant contact with families of children.

St. Matthew’s Academy in Area 49, Lilongwe is currently seeking a compassionate, reliable,
experienced Headteacher to join our thriving school. In this role, you will see to the learners’ basic
and developmental needs, provide the enriching learning environment, and create a safe,
compassionate home away from home for learners.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS.
Academic and Professional Credentials:
• Diploma in education or its equivalent or Diploma in any related fields.
• With not less than 5 years of experience in teaching and not less than 3 years of experience
in school related leadership position.
Leadership Skills:
• Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate, inspire, and guide staff.
• The ability to identify and solve problems effectively.
• Strong interpersonal skills necessary for building positive relationships with students,
parents and staff.
Management Skills:
• Organizational and time management skills necessary for managing the school effectively.
• A genuine passion for early childhood or/and primary education and a commitment to the
holistic development of learners.
Curriculum Development:
• Knowledge of curriculum development and the ability to implement effective teaching strategies.
Communication Skills:
• Excellent communication skills essential for interacting with students, parents, staff, and
the wider community.
Staff Management:
• The ability to recruit, train, and evaluate staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
a. The Headteacher shall lead and manage the school, overseeing staff, curriculum
development, student outcomes, and community engagement, while ensuring a safe
and effective learning and teaching environment.
b. Ensuring the safety and well-being of learners, handling administrative tasks,
budgeting, and fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment for all learners.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Leadership and Management:
a. Implement St. Matthew’s Academy's vision, values, and strategic direction.
b. Lead and manage staff, training, and performance management.
c. Oversee the School's budget and resources.
d. Maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
2. Curriculum and Instruction:
a. Develop, implement, and evaluate the school curriculum.
b. Ensure high-quality teaching and learning practices.
c. Monitor and assess student progress and achievement.
3. Teaching:
a. Planning and preparing lessons.
b. Researching and implementing new teaching methods.
c. Delivering engaging lessons.
d. Promoting student participation.
e. Assessing learners’ learning.
f. Maintaining discipline.
g. Addressing student needs.
h. Maintaining a safe and conducive learning and teaching environment.
i. Collaborating with parents and staff to support learners’ success.
4. Community Engagement:
a. Build strong relationships with parents, guardians, and the wider community.
b. Represent the school at community events and meetings.
5. Other Duties:
a. Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
b. Participate in professional development activities.
c. Address student discipline issues.
d. Supervise and support other staff members.
6. Specific to Preschool:
a. Focus on early childhood development and learning.
b. Create a stimulating and nurturing environment for young children.
c. Work closely with parents to support their children's learning and development.
