On Monday, 6 July 2026, Jalira Girls Secondary School, led by its Brass Band, proudly joined the nation in commemorating Malawi's 62nd Independence Anniversary. The celebrations began with a vibrant march through Bolero Trading Centre, where the school's Brass Band delighted the community with a series of patriotic and entertaining musical performances.
As part of the day's activities, the students also demonstrated their commitment to community service by conducting a clean-up exercise at Bolero Health Centre, promoting environmental cleanliness and civic responsibility.
The event was graced by Dr. Mathews Mtumbuka, Member of Parliament for Rumphi Central Constituency, who joined the school and the community in celebrating this important national occasion.
Together, we celebrate our nation's freedom while instilling values of patriotism, leadership, and service in our learners.
