DMI University has signed a five-year memorandum of understanding (MOU) with CIC Insurance aimed at strengthening practical training and career readiness for students.

Speaking after signing the MOU today, the university principal, Dafter Khembo, said the agreement will enable students to complement classroom learning with hands-on industry experience through structured internships.

He said: “When they combine the theoretical aspect obtained in the classroom and the practical experience they will get at the industry, we are going to build a strong person who will contribute to the development of our country.”

CIC Insurance managing director Zachary Wambugu said the partnership is also designed to benefit students engaged in research, with the company expected to support their work.

“The research component is going to be flexible and will be need-based. We can work with students on research for products or market needs as they arise,”said Wambugu.

🌟 Malawi Future Leaders’ Summit 2026 🌟
Today, DMI St. John the Baptist University, Lilongwe Campus proudly participated in the Malawi Future Leaders’ Summit held at Golden Peacock Hotel under the inspiring theme:
“Academic Excellence, Entrepreneurship and Leadership for Malawi’s Future.”
👩🎓👨🎓 Our students had the opportunity to interact, learn, and network with peers from other universities, gaining fresh perspectives and building meaningful connections.
🎙️ The summit featured distinguished speakers including:
• Prof. Address Malata – Vice Chancellor, Malawi University of Science and Technology
• Dr. George Mzomera Ngwira – CEO, LAB20 Group
Both leaders encouraged students to embrace excellence, innovation, and strong leadership as pillars for shaping Malawi’s future.
👏 Organized by Michael Walker of the Institute Business Consultant, the event was a resounding success.

📢 Public Lecture at DMISJBU – Mangochi Campus
We were honored to host Dr. Wyton Jombo, Principal Economist in Macroeconomic Modelling and Forecasting at the Reserve Bank of Malawi, as our distinguished guest speaker.
🎙️ Topic: “Taming Inflation: The Role of Monetary Policy”
The lecture provided valuable insights into how monetary policy can be used to stabilize the economy and safeguard livelihoods. Students, staff, and community members engaged in a lively discussion, deepening their understanding of one of today’s most pressing economic challenges.
