Rinbudhoo School

Rinbudhoo School Rinbudhoo School was established by the people of the community. Every piece of multifaceted coral stones carries the mark of hard labour of the people.

The people worked collectively and shed their sweat to build it with coral stones and calcium carbonate. This school was officially opened on the 14th day of February in 1970. When this school was established about 43 years back from here, it was merely an edhuruge’ which was teaching Quran and Islamic Studies, Dhivehi, some elementary calculations (it cannot be called mathematics whatsoever), then some elementary environmental studies. There was no uniform; there was no desk or chair. Students had to sit on mat bed or on sand bed. Students did not have any age limit. Only one teacher or two taught the students. Teachers did not have degrees or higher education. But as far I know, the teaching and learning atmosphere was very formal and strict. The old teachers still today express their deep professional satisfaction. Students were very respectful to teachers and had very deep enthusiasm and urgency for learning.
