The school is formerly known as QATAR AMEER SCHOOL, as it is a donation by the Emir of Qatar. Later it was renamed Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani School. Started on 15 February 1998, Hamad School, as most commonly used, is best described as a secondary school with classes from Grade 6 through Grade 10 until 2010. On 13 June 2010, the school reached another milestone by commencing Higher Secondary Classes (Grade 11). The school offers both Science and Business streams in secondary as well as higher secondary education. The facilities in the school includes 3 Science Labs, a computer Lab, AV room, Library, a Prayer room, in addition to the classrooms and administrative blocks and rooms. As Laamu Gan is one of the four islands selected to be developed under IHD Project by the World Bank, a Teacher Resource Centre (TRC), Residence Learning Centre (RLC or "Dhanaalu") have also been constructed. The school is located in the heart of Gan, Mathimaradhoo and is in close proximity of the regional hospital in Gan. Principal: Mohamed Shaukath
