The International Open University (IOU) is the brainchild of Dr. Bilal Philips.

International Open University is an affordable institution of higher learning founded by Dr. Bilal Philips that offers accredited degrees, certificates, and diploma course in a wide range of streams. He envisioned an institution that would offer online intensive, undergraduate, and graduate courses in Islamic Studies completely tuition-free. IOU began with 1,500 students in 2007 and by the end of 2008, the number of registered students tripled, reaching 4,500. Alhamdulillaah. In 2010 the IOU launched the world’s first tuition-free, online Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Studies. Allah has blessed the IOU with a student body of over 50,000 students from over 206 different countries. Dr. Bilal Philips is the Founder and Dean of International Open University

IOU serves as a Strategic Partner at the 2nd Globde Conference in UKM.

The International Open University collaborates to hold the 2nd Globde Conference organized by the Centre for Global Business and Digital Economy of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

The theme for this year`s conference "Business 5.0: integrating Human Centric Approaches with Technology in Global Business" was carefully selected the reflect the growing need of integrating business with technology. This was planned to take place between 29th and 30th September at Seri Pacific Hotel Kuala Lumpur and via online platform.

The collaboration through the DVC Academics Prof. Aliyu Dahiru Muhammad is one of the high quality activities between IOU and other universities. This increases visibility of both universities at global stage and produce quality research outputs. Atleast four academic members of IOU will present papers during the conference while three others serve as members of scientific committee for the conference.

The IOU, as a strategic partner would feature in all the conference materials and publications among others.

What would you build if you were given the mandate to strengthen a university’s entire research ecosystem?

The International Open University (IOU) is seeking an accomplished academic and research leader to serve as Director, Research & Publications.

Reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), the Director will play a central role in strengthening the university's research ecosystem and scholarly profile - bringing together research strategy, research capacity, publications, partnerships, research integrity, and measurable research performance.

This is an opportunity for an established researcher to have impact beyond their own publication record: to help shape the culture, systems, and opportunities that enable faculty and students to produce stronger research, secure funding, publish widely, collaborate internationally, and increase the university's research visibility.

We are looking for a leader with a PhD in Management Sciences, IT, Economics, or Humanities, 8-10 years of relevant academic / research experience including research leadership or management, and a strong, sustained publication record, preferably including indexed, peer-reviewed publications.

Experience in academic publishing, journal management, editorial or reviewer roles, or indexing is an added advantage.
