Zikura School

Zikura School Enlighten, Enrich, Empower Fuvahmulah is famous for its people’s desire to build an educated community. In the beginning only special classes were there.

With this insight, a team of Fuvahmulaku citizen has started Zikuraa School. This paved the way to the kindergarten classes. Thus, it became the beginning of preschool education in the island. During the 90’s as there were lots of children who did not get the opportunity to get secondary education, Zikuraa School initiated secondary classes targeting to science stream and dropout from mainstream education and enabled those students to achieve GCE O/L. With opportunities opened in the mainstream education Zikura School has discontinued the secondary classes in 1996 By the end of last academic year more than three thousand students were graduated from this school. As our aim is to serve the educational needs of Fuvahmulah, now we are focusing our attention to tertiary education. This is because Fuvahmulah has a stable primary and secondary education system producing plenty of students who are capable of doing higher education and are refrained from this opportunity as they are not able to go to Male’ or abroad. The situation is the same for some students of neighboring Atolls. These students will be benefited if such an institute starts in Fuvahmulah. Vision
