The MLA is the earliest Library Staff Association in Mauritius, It acts as the VOICE of Professionals in the field of INFORMATION & LIBRARY SCIENCE in Mauritius.It was founded in 1973 and presently it consists of about 100 members, who are mostly LIBRARY CLERKS, LIBRARY OFFICERS, LIBRARIANS, teachers & other professionals from the educational field from both Public & Private sector in Mauritius.

À l'occasion de la Journée mondiale du livre et du droit d'auteur, la MLA a réuni passionnés et professionnels au Théâtre Serge Constantin pour repenser notre rapport à la lecture. Face à l'évolution des pratiques, son président Gheerishsing Gopaul prône une approche hybride où le numérique devient un complément essentiel du papier pour séduire les jeunes générations. L'objectif est clair : établir un diagnostic précis des nouvelles tendances pour soumettre des solutions concrètes aux autorités et redonner le goût des mots, sous toutes leurs formes, dès le plus jeune âge.
