During the press conference in view of the Philharmonia festival 2027, the Director of the Conservatoire spoke of the growing partnerships and upcoming projects for musicians in Mauritius:

"The Conservatoire National de Musique François Mitterrand is a parastatal body under the aegis of the Ministry of Arts and Culture. As the national institution responsible to promote music and deliver music courses in the western traditions, I cannot emphasise enough how privileged we are of the evolving musical partnership that is being forged between the Philharmonia Orchestra and cultural partners in Mauritius, including the Conservatoire.

It is our current vision to further develop professional pathways for music education in Mauritius, enhance capacity-building among our teachers, and strengthen local collaborations to help set up a symphonic orchestra for Mauritius.

In this regard, we will welcome different activities which will be led by musicians from the Philharmonia orchestra next month, namely a masterclass for chamber ensembles in Mauritius, a professional development session for our teachers, as well as auditions for advanced students. Furthermore, we will have an orchestra workshop, at a time when we are currently working towards a collaborative symphonic concert project with Opera Mauritius at the end of October.
All these activities are important milestones for us, as we advance our vision, and we are truly grateful to the Philharmonia orchestra for the avenues of artistic development they have opened and will continue to open in Mauritius.

The Conservatoire remains a trusted partner in this journey, and we look forward to strengthening this collaboration in the years ahead."

As the academic year draws to a close, we were priviledged to bring it to a fitting conclusion with a reprise of 'Cantus Sacri' at Notre Dame de Mont Roches Church last Sunday.

We are immensely grateful for the many hands and hearts who contributed to make this concert beautiful, on stage as well as behind the scenes.

To our staff and choir members, thank you for your unwavering dedication.

To the volunteers from the choir and the Parish of Mont Roches, we are thankful for your logistical support, without which this concert would not have been possible.

On Sunday, our students from the Mauritius Fire and Rescue Band teamed up with a few of our students playing wind instruments to present a parade on the occasion of the celebration of the French national day.

The Marching Band filled the Telfair Promenade with festive music, and we were happy to contribute to the festive mood of the event.
