What started as a quiet moment of sowing seeds in class has grown into something truly beautiful. Today, those same plants are thriving in our community garden, attracting bees, inspiring curiosity and bringing people together. 🐝💛

The Sow Grow Unite Community Garden, created in collaboration with Gozo General Hospital, is now in its second year and has been recognised as one of the best LEAF projects!

This space has become so much more than a garden. It’s a living classroom, a meeting point, a place where generations learn side by side. From sowing to transplanting to observing bees joyfully pollinating the blooms, every step is a lesson in patience, care and community.

We also carried out a small experiment to see where strawberries grow best. Since we don’t have soil at school, the students planted the strawberries in peat bags and placed them in different locations around the school; one in full sun, one in partial shade and one indoors by a sunny window. Over the weeks they compared how each plant grew and discussed which conditions helped the strawberries thrive.

Together, we’re rediscovering our connection with the earth and each other 💚

Today brought a magical moment to our school grounds! Malta is currently witnessing thousands of butterflies migrating from Africa to Europe and our very own pollinator garden, created through the GLOBE Bloom and Buzz Project and the LEAF programme, became a tiny but powerful stopover for these incredible travellers.

While watering the plants, our Eco-Schools link teacher spotted several butterflies enjoying the space. Even though our garden is small and surrounded by tall buildings, it’s clearly doing exactly what it was designed to do - attract pollinators and support biodiversity.

No action is too small to create change and today, nature proved it 🦋💚

🎨✨ JOURNEYS – A Celebration of Creativity ✨🎨
We are proud to present “JOURNEYS – A Celebration of Creativity”, an inspiring exhibition showcasing the artistic achievements of students at Gozo College Agius De Soldanis Middle School throughout this scholastic year.

The exhibition features a diverse collection of artworks created during art lessons, alongside exceptional pieces produced by students participating in the Art and Pottery Clubs. These clubs, led by Head of Art Department Lino Xerri and Art Teacher Victor Agius, provided valuable opportunities for students to further explore their creativity beyond the classroom during recreational breaks. An audio-visual presentation showing the creative voyage of the students is also part of the exhibition.

Hosted in the school hall, the exhibition benefits from professional stage lighting, creating a vibrant atmosphere that highlights the students’ talent and dedication.

The exhibition was officially launched on 5 June during a special interdisciplinary event featuring performances by our talented music and dance students, under the guidance of Head of Music Department Mr Mark Gauci and SCDP Dance Teacher Sarah Clare Saliba. We were also honoured by the presence of Education Officer Dr Charmaine Zammit, who shared inspiring words with those attending.

🌟 The exhibition is open to the public by appointment.
🖼️ A special curatorial tour will also be organised in the coming days.
Come and celebrate the creativity, imagination, and artistic journey of our students!

This beautiful frog was found in Victoria Gozo, next to the middle school where all the coaches and buses park.

The PSCD and Science teachers, together with students of the Gozo College Agius De Soldanis Middle School , helped to rescue this endemic Maltese painted frog. Our Nature Trust volunteer assessed its condition and arranged a veterinary check. Thankfully the frog had no significant injuries, and was released back in to the wild 🐸

The school said "This was a valuable hands-on lesson in environmental responsibility and the importance of protecting Malta’s unique wildlife. Well done to everyone involved for showing such care and respect for nature." 🙏

All of the animals that we rescue are protected species and it is illegal in Malta to harm them or keep them as pets.

Our volunteers have wildlife handling permits and training as well as equipment in order to rescue these creatures. If you spot any of the wild animals that we rescue injured or in danger, please call the Wildlife Rescue Team Malta on 99999505.

🙏 A massive thank you always goes to the public who call us when they notice an animal in distress, our vets, and our dedicated rescue and rehabilitation volunteers.

Our rehabilitation centre at Xrobb L-Ghagin in Malta is open to the public so that you can come and see the animals we have in rehab including Sea Turtles and Hedgehogs. Entrance is free (donations always welcome) however booking in advance is necessary, please contact [email protected] for more information.

Students from various secondary schools across Malta recently came together for an exciting educational event called "Un martedì italiano", a celebration of the Italian language and culture designed especially for Year 7 students. Throughout the day, students enthusiastically participated in a variety of interactive games, quizzes, and team challenges that tested their knowledge of Italian vocabulary, traditions, food, music, and geography. The activity also gave students the opportunity to meet new friends from different schools while developing their communication and teamwork skills in a fun and engaging environment. "Un martedì italiano" proved to be a memorable experience for everyone involved, encouraging a greater appreciation for the Italian language and culture through learning, collaboration, and friendly competition.
