Today we celebrate the birthday of a truly remarkable leader, Grandmaster S. Nar.
Grandmaster Nar has dedicated his life to the growth and preservation of Tang Soo Do, inspiring generations of students through his wisdom, humility, and amazing commitment to the art. As the leader of the European Tang Soo Do Federation, (European I.M.A) he has guided countless practitioners, not only as a martial artist, but as a mentor and role model.
To many of us, Grandmaster Nar is far more than a teacher. He has been a father figure to Master Wallace and a source of strength, guidance, and inspiration to our entire Tang Soo Do family. His leadership has helped shape the lives of so many students across Europe and beyond.
I am especially grateful that Grandmaster Nar officiated my wedding, making one of the most important days of my life even more meaningful. It is a memory that I will always cherish.
On behalf of all of us whose lives have been touched by his teachings and leadership, I would like to wish Grandmaster Nar a very happy birthday. May your day be filled with happiness, good health, and the love and respect of the many people whose lives you have enriched through Tang Soo Do.
Happy Birthday, Grandmaster Nar! Thank you for your leadership, your guidance, and for being an inspiration to us all.
Tang Soo!

The more time you invest in your students, the more they grow, not just as martial artists, but as people.
Today, some of our black belts joined me for an additional HIIT training session. Extra workouts are not always welcomed at first. Naturally, students see them as tiring, challenging, and sometimes uncomfortable. But that is part of the martial arts journey. A martial artist understands that growth rarely comes from comfort.
Fitness is one of the most important foundations of Tang Soo Do. Better fitness means better endurance, faster recovery, greater power, improved focus, stronger mental resilience, and the ability to maintain good technique under pressure. It allows students to push beyond what they thought was possible.
As fitness improves, so does understanding. What once felt like a burden becomes a tool. What once felt exhausting becomes empowering.
More importantly, we train as a community. We encourage each other, challenge each other, and grow together. Every drop of sweat shared builds stronger bonds between students and creates an environment where everyone can improve.
This traditional mindset comes directly from our leader, Grandmaster S Nar, who continues to train the old way, with discipline, consistency, hard work, and a commitment to continual self-improvement. We proudly follow those principles in our dojang.
Martial arts is not about finding the easiest path. It is about developing the character to walk the harder one.
“Skill may earn a belt, but fitness, discipline, and perseverance determine how far that belt can take you.”

Tonight was a truly special pre-wedding dinner surrounded by the people who have shaped so much of my journey , my Kwan Kang Nim, fellow Masters, students, and the original Master who guided me to Black Belt.
Sharing this evening together before such an important moment in my life meant more than words can express. I am deeply grateful for the support, friendship, guidance, and brotherhood that each of you has given me throughout the years.
A special thank you to Valerio and his lovely wife for travelling all the way from Italy to celebrate this special time with us. Your presence made the evening even more meaningful.
To everyone who came tonight, thank you from the bottom of my heart. These are memories I will carry with me forever. Tang Soo Do is more than training , it is family. 🙏🏻

friendships are built over time… ours was built through Tang Soo Do, loyalty, and brotherhood.
Over 30 years ago, training brought me and Master Carl Morphew together, but what started in the DoJang became something far greater than friendship. Carl, together with his lovely wife Helen, have become family to me. I’ve had the privilege of watching their children grow up, sharing life’s moments together, and even teaching the kids how to swim. Those memories are priceless.
This week means even more to me because Carl and Helen travelled all the way from England to be here for my wedding. Having them beside me on such an important day means more than words can truly express.
Tang Soo Do gave us more than techniques and training , it gave us lifelong bonds, respect, loyalty, and an Ilshim brotherhood… one heart.
Carl has always been my Ilshim brother, through every stage of life, and I am grateful beyond words for the friendship, support, and memories we continue to share together.
Thank you, my brother. Safe travels always, and thank you both for being part of our lives and our special day.

This Friday will be one of the most important days of my life, and I honestly could not imagine a more meaningful person to officiate our wedding than Grandmaster S. Nar.
To many people, he is known as a Grandmaster, a leader, and one of the most important figures in the development and growth of Tang Soo Do worldwide. But to us in Malta, and throughout the European Tang Soo Do Federation (European I.M.A.), he is much more than a title.
Grandmaster Nar has always led with humility, wisdom, and genuine care for his students. He is not someone who seeks attention or recognition for himself. He does not boast or place himself above others. Instead, he leads quietly through his actions, his teachings, and the respect he shows to every single person around him.
For many of us, he has been more than an instructor , he has been a mentor, a guide, and a father figure. His influence reaches far beyond the dojang. He has helped shape not only our martial arts journey, but also our character, values, and the way we carry ourselves in life.
That is why having him officiate our wedding feels so natural and so meaningful. It is not simply an honour because of his rank or reputation, but because of the deep respect, gratitude, and closeness we feel toward him.
Grandmaster Nar has played such an important role in the lives of so many students across Malta and Europe, and I know I speak for many when I say we are truly thankful for everything he has given us over the years.
Thank you, Grandmaster, for your guidance, your humility, and for always treating us like family.
