Following my mobility experience in Vienna, where I had the opportunity to job shadow in a classroom, I disseminated my experience with my colleagues at school during a COPE by sharing the main observations and good practices I had witnessed.
I explained how the classroom routine was organised and how lessons were delivered in a student-centred way. I highlighted the importance of the teacher’s role as a facilitator of learning, rather than simply delivering information. I also shared examples of how 21st-century skills were integrated through cross-curricular STEM projects, where students were encouraged to explore, collaborate, think critically, and learn through hands-on activities.
I discussed how the learning environment was safe, supportive, and engaging, allowing students to take an active role in their own learning. I reflected on how these ideas could inspire our own classroom practices, particularly through more active learning, project-based tasks, and opportunities for students to work collaboratively and discussed how similar strategies could be adapted within our school context.

Day 5 - Final Day
The final day at San Xerome included a one-to-one session with a student with autism, where sensory-based interventions, such as using the whirlpool bath, helped improve his mood, emotional regulation, and engagement.
Students later enjoyed a sensory music performance that encouraged participation, with both students and staff joining in dancing.
Before departing, gifts were exchanged as a gesture of appreciation, with chocolates presented to the hosts and handmade keepsakes received in return.
Overall, the mobility provided valuable insights into inclusive education, personalised support, functional learning, and community participation, while fostering professional collaboration and the exchange of good practices between both organisations.

Day 4 – Community participation and social inclusion.
Students of all ages attending San Xerome, from primary pupils to adults in vocational programmes, took part in an end-of-year outing to a local swimming pool.
The activity encouraged social interaction, relationship building, independence, wellbeing, and inclusion. We observed positive interactions between students of different ages and abilities and reflected on how shared recreational experiences foster a sense of belonging and support social development.

During the COPE, I shared my Erasmus experience with colleagues, highlighting the key insights and practices I gained from the course in Split. I provided an overview of how artificial intelligence can support our daily teaching, particularly by making the preparation of resources more efficient and timesaving.
I then introduced three practical AI tools - Magic School AI, Brisk, and Notebook LM - showing how each can be used to enhance lesson planning, differentiation and organisation of content.
Overall, the session aimed to show how innovative digital tools can be integrated into teaching in a meaningful and manageable way.

Day 3 – Multisensory Learning and Inclusion
The third day involved multisensory sessions and group activities.
One session focused on environmental awareness and marine conservation through video, discussion, and role-play. The programme supported inclusion by preparing peers in a mainstream school to welcome a student who attends both specialised and mainstream settings.
Participants also observed a sensory-relaxation session and an interactive storytelling activity using visual supports.
The day demonstrated how multisensory learning, inclusive practices, and visual aids can improve engagement, wellbeing, and understanding.

Day 2 - Sensory Development and Therapeutic Support
The second day focused on sensory-based learning and therapeutic interventions.
Students participated in body painting and water-play activities that encouraged sensory exploration, communication, cooperation, and self-expression.
The participants also observed a one-to-one psychology session for a student with autism that targeted social-awareness skills through structured activities and discussion.
The day highlighted how sensory experiences and personalised interventions can support holistic development.

Day 1 - Understanding San Xerome's Educational Model
The participants toured the San Xerome facilities and learned about its approach to special education.
A key feature is grouping students according to abilities and support needs rather than age, enabling more personalised learning. The organisation combines education, therapy, and vocational training, with a strong emphasis on functional, hands-on learning, independence, and community participation.
Activities included observing community-based learning, a radio project, role-play activities, and game-based assessments.
A community outing demonstrated experiential learning through a visit focused on traditional fishing-net making.

Student-centred methodologies focused in 21st century skills to Primary and Middle School educators
Day 5 Prandaugasse Public School Vienna - Austria
On our final day, we had the opportunity to observe two lessons.
The first was a craft session in which students worked on creating a three-dimensional house. This activity involved practical techniques such as cutting wood, painting, and assembling the individual components into a finished 3D structure, demonstrating both creativity and craftsmanship.
The second observation was a German language lesson that focused on parts of speech, delivered through the Montessori method.
Before our departure, we presented a memento to the principal and the teacher as a token of our appreciation and gratitude for their hospitality and support throughout our visit.
