To all our staff from the last 20 years: we recently sent you a pretty important (at least to us) invitation by email. If you did not receive it, please check your spam folder or send us your most recent e-mail address, as the one we have might be outdated.

Qala festa through the cameras of two of our students! Thank you to Bex and Chantelle for sharing your photos with us ☺️

Additional insight from Chantelle: Big firework displays but bigger hearts were found at the Qala festa :)

August 2025 we are in session !

Here are a few snippets from the first few days of our August session. From an incredibly windy first night on Barruf to staff international cuisine night to our first activity, we can't wait to see how the next few weeks take shape! 🌞🩷

See last slide for my attempt to encourage our resident feline (name contested) to take part in the fun 🫡

Cherishing evenings by the bay 🌅

We are very lucky to call Xlendi home to our field school. Whether it is an espresso alongside writing-up field notes, a refreshing afternoon dip, or a delicious ice cream, we have found the bay invaluable (and a popular fieldsite too).

Our June session is well underway… ☀️

We have been enjoying the start of our June session and have been getting to know our current cohort of budding anthropologists! We have shared stories, experiences (we always love a Gozitan Festa), and the odd Kinnie.

Stay tuned for more on our first session of the summer season.

Many of our students go on to publish their research from the programme, and often in our sister journal, Omertaa! 🖋️

Omertaa, journal for Applied Anthropology, was launched in January 2007. It is an international peer reviewed journal, with an academic board, publishing on issues which belong to the broader field of Anthropology and related issues. The offices are located in Ghent (Belgium), which is also the residence of the supporting organization, Expeditions, Research in Applied Anthropology.

Omertaa has publications from the public libraries of Gozo, LGBTQI+ experiences and water management - perhaps your research will join them.

To view a wide range of articles, published with Omertaa and guidance for authors, head to their website: http://www.omertaa.org/

While many of our students choose to publish with Omertaa, some opt for journals tied to their university. If you decide to formalise your research on Gozo, we can assist you with publication regardless of the journal.

Gozo through the seasons… 🍃

Soon the mild temperatures and green landscape will start to transform to the more familiar summer heat.

We are feeling nostalgic for the warmth of the summer programmes, share your favourite pictures from Gozo’s landscapes and tag us to share on our stories

Applications simplified! 📝

We want to know about you, your motivations, current level of study and your expectations. This not only helps us to assess your suitability for the programme but aids us in supporting you.

We work on a rolling admission basis: spots are limited and we stop accepting when they are all taken.

The academic board will be reviewing the applications usually every Monday morning (GMT +1), and you will be notified of their decision shortly after. If you did not get any reply, kindly check your spam box first, before contacting us.

Head over to our application webpage to find out more: https://www.anthropologyfieldschool.org/forms/contact-3/index.php
