🌟 English Lesson🌟

This week our learners became young advertisers!

Step 1: We kicked things off by exploring the difference between indoor and outdoor hobbies. The children had lots of opinions (and some very passionate arguments for why football definitely counts as the best outdoor hobby!).

Step 2: Next, we looked at different examples of adverts — both a short video clip and a traditional reading comprehension.

The children answered questions about who the adverts were for, what they were trying to sell, and what made them catchy.

Step 3: Then came the fun part: planning their own advert! The most popular ideas?💡
⚽ Joining a football club
🎄 Throwing an epic Christmas party

Step 4: Finally, everyone wrote and “published” their adverts. Some even added drawings and slogans that could totally be on real posters!

So proud of their imagination, teamwork, and developing English skills. 💛

🍦 Learning Never Tasted So Sweet! 🍪

This past week, our students had a deliciously educational experience making ice cream sandwiches.
Here’s how we turned a simple dessert into a meaningful learning opportunity:

📖 Step 1 – Reading Comprehension (1 week prior):

We kicked things off with a reading activity where students explored the structure of a recipe from identifying kitchen tools and ingredients to understanding step-by-step instructions.

This helped build vocabulary, sequencing skills, and comprehension.

👩‍🍳 Step 2 – Let’s Make It!

A week later, students put their knowledge into action by actually assembling their own ice cream sandwiches! They followed a recipe, practiced careful measurements, and worked together.

✍️ Step 3 – Writing Task:

After the hands-on fun, students wrote their own recipe for the ice cream sandwich, complete with:
• Kitchen tools
• Ingredients
• Step-by-step instructions

This activity blended literacy, real-life application, and a sweet reward! 🍨😋😋

Well done 😍

📚 Year 4️⃣& 5️⃣ English – Postcard Writing Fun! ✍️📮

This week in English, our Year 4 and 5 students had an exciting and educational journey into the world of postcard writing!

Here’s what we got up to:

🚗🏙️ Vocabulary Brainstorming
We started by thinking of words linked to transport and buildings; everything from buses and trains to towers and bridges! This helped build a strong vocabulary foundation.

🎲 Educational Vocabulary Game
To make learning even more fun, we played a game that boosted their English skills, a perfect preparation for their writing task!

📽️ Postcard Video
We watched a short, engaging video that explained how postcards are written and showed a real-life example. This helped students visualise what theirs could look like.

🌴🚂 Creative Writing Time
Some students wrote about their holiday experiences, while others wrote about an imaginary train journey.
For the 🚞 trip, students used Google Maps to choose their departure and arrival destinations, making their writing even more realistic and detailed!

✉️ Finishing Touches
Once the postcards were written, each student got to stick a stamp on their card, just like posting a real one!

It was a fantastic mix of fun, learning, and creativity.
Well done to all our brilliant writers! 💬 ❤️

Year 2️⃣ Maths: Understanding Place Value with Tens and Ones 🔢

This week in Year 2, we explored the important concept of PLACE VALUE focusing on how ones and tens work together to form numbers:

To help the children grasp this idea in a hands-on, visual way, we used STRAWS as our teaching tool. The students learned that:
• 10 individual straws (ones) can be bundled into 1 ten
• 20 straws become 2 tens, and so on…

Each group of 🔟straws was bundled and labeled as “1 ten,” helping students see how smaller units combine to form larger ones.

🧠 Activity Highlight:
We used two bowls 🔴🟡in this interactive session:
• One bowl held cards representing ones 🟡
• The other held cards representing tens 🔴

Working in 👫children selected a card from each bowl to create a two-digit number (e.g., 3 tens and 6 ones = 36). Then they used the straws to build and represent their number physically, bundling tens and leaving the ones ungrouped.

It was fantastic to see their confidence grow as they could build, see, and explain numbers like 42, 17, and 58 using the straws.

Well done ❤️
