This week, students and graduates of the Department of German, together with Dr Katrin Dautel, are participating in an Erasmus+ BIP summer school at the University of Cagliari on ‘Islands Narrations and Metaphors‘. In engaging seminars on classic and contemporary literature, film, visual art and cartography, discussions revolve around the cultural construction of the island as thought figure, islands and the environment and the significance of islands in history and culture. In addition, the group is exploring beautiful Sardinia during excursions, guided tours and visits to museums. Thank you so much to the organisers, especially Prof. Valentina Serra, for the excellent organisation! 🙂🙏🏻🏝️

It was a pleasure hosting visiting professor Joanna Bednarska from the University of Łódź at our department this week! Thank you for the intriguing sessions and the talk - learning about literary representations of the Lebensborn e.V. Organisation once again highlighted the importance of a critical engagement with the N**i past and the importance of making the victims’ perspectives visible.
