🚀🌍 Exploring Space and STEM Heroes Across Europe! ✨

As part of our eTwinning project, Earth Explorers: A STEM Journey Across Europe, our Year 5.2 students participated in exciting collaborative activities focused on Space Exploration and STEM Heroes.

In April, partner schools worked together on the “Space Explorers – Our Spinning Planet: A Journey through Space and Time” mission. Each school created a video about a different topic related to Earth and Space. Our class explored “How do we have day and night on Earth?”, where students explained how Earth’s rotation causes day and night through a creative video presentation. Videos from all partner schools were combined into one collaborative film, showcasing learning from across Europe.

In May, students and teachers from partner schools in Malta, Turkey, Italy and Serbia came together for an online meeting where the final collaborative video was presented. Students enthusiastically participated in a fun and interactive STEM Heroes grid challenge, where they used clues and grid coordinates to identify famous scientists.

Our students researched Alessandro Volta, Thomas Edison, Benjamin Franklin, Marie Curie, and Melitta Benz, learning about their discoveries and how they contributed to science and everyday life. During the activity, partner schools worked together by reading clues, identifying grid positions, and guessing the scientist being described.

Students especially enjoyed collaborating and interacting with their international peers, including reconnecting with Maltese and Italian students whom they had previously met in Gozo. This experience helped strengthen friendships, communication, and teamwork while making STEM learning meaningful and enjoyable.

🌟 Through collaboration, inquiry and shared experiences, our students continued their journey as young global learners and STEM explorers!

⚡ Exploring Energy through STEM! 🌍🔋

As part of our eTwinning project, Earth Explorers: A STEM Journey Across Europe, our young learners dedicated the month of February to exploring the exciting topic of Energy.

Students investigated the meaning of energy and learned about renewable and non-renewable energy sources through discussions, collaborative quizzes and hands-on sorting activities.

Working in groups, learners explored electrical circuits, discovering what makes a complete circuit while creating their own using bulbs, buzzers and motors. They also recorded videos explaining how circuits work, which were later uploaded to Padlet to share their learning.

Students also explored different types of energy used in household appliances and worked collaboratively to sort appliances according to their main energy output, such as heat, sound and kinetic energy. To conclude the topic, learners applied their knowledge to real-life problem-solving tasks, using mathematics to compare energy use and costs of household appliances.

An exciting part of this learning journey was collaborating with our partner schools from Malta, Turkey, Italy and Serbia. Through Padlet, students explored and enjoyed viewing the work uploaded by their international peers, learning new ideas from each school and engaging by commenting on one another’s work.

Through teamwork, inquiry, collaboration and hands-on learning, our students developed a deeper understanding of energy and its importance in everyday life. 💡✨⚡ Exploring Energy through STEM! 🌍🔋

Our Year 5 students continued their learning journey through our eTwinning project, Earth Explorers: A STEM Journey Across Europe!

During March, students explored the human skeleton by identifying and labelling important bones and joints, creating movable skeleton models, and learning how muscles and bones work together to help us move. They also explored X-rays and MRI machines and discovered why they are used.

Through Maths, students measured height and arm span, rounded measurements, ordered heights from tallest to shortest, and compared lengths using mathematical symbols.

All activities were proudly shared on Book Creator as part of our collaborative STEM journey with partner schools from Malta, Italy Serbia and Turkey. 🌍✨
