Launched in 2025, the University of Malta’s Women’s Archive is dedicated to preserving and highlighting women’s experiences, voices, and contributions to Maltese history.

The Archive brings together personal papers, photographs, publications, digital records, and other materials that might otherwise be lost, ensuring that women’s stories form an integral part of our national collective heritage 🔎📜

Through research, exhibitions, lectures, workshops, and public engagement, the Archive brings these histories to life and makes them accessible to a wider community.

We are grateful for the support of the BOV Foundation, whose co-funding of the Research Support Officer (RSO) is helping us further develop, catalogue, and make accessible this important collection 📚

"Heritage is not only found in buildings and artefacts. It also lives in personal experiences, memories, and voices that deserve to be preserved. This is why the Foundation recently formalised an agreement with the University of Malta to support the expansion of the country's first 'Women's Archive', housed within the University Library's Special Archives Department." - BOV

This is an important step towards preserving, documenting, and making accessible the contributions and experiences of women throughout Malta's history. By safeguarding these stories, we help ensure that women's voices become an enduring part of the national memory we pass on to future generations.

Although this academic year has come to an end, the Equity Office remains committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible University of Malta for all and gearing up for next academic year!

Today, the Office proudly participated in an orientation seminar organised by the University's ACCESS-Disability Support Committee (ADSC), the ACCESS-Disability Support Unit (ADSU), and the Matriculation and Secondary Education Certificate (MATSEC) Examination Board.

The seminar welcomed prospective University of Malta students and offered an opportunity to explore the access arrangements support services available throughout their academic journey.

The session created a space for questions, discussion, and reassurance and helping future students feel informed, supported, and confident as they prepare to take this exciting next step. 🎓

We are pleased to welcome Mr Chrisallo Borg to the University of Malta Equity Office as our new Research Support Officer, with his position supported by the BOV Foundation. 🥳

Chrisallo will play a key role in supporting the development of the University of Malta Women's Archive, helping to preserve and promote the stories, experiences and contributions of women in Malta. His work will include engaging with donors, coordinating outreach initiatives, and making the Archive more accessible to researchers and the wider public. 📖

Fostering Positive Intercultural Relations in Workplace Settings

📚 The second session of this academic year’s training initiative brought together members of the university community for another valuable opportunity to learn, reflect, and exchange ideas.

This initiative, a collaboration between the Committee for Race and Ethnic Affairs, Human Resources, and the Equity Office, was facilitated by Dr Omar N'Shea, Dr Maria Brown, and Equity Coordinator Nadia Abdilla. Through hands-on scenarios, participants explored workplace experiences, searched for relevant policies online, tested their accessibility, and engaged in thoughtful discussion together 💬

It was encouraging to see such active participation and openness throughout the session.

We are grateful to everyone who helped make it such a positive and well-received experience, and we look forward to continuing these important conversations across our university community 👥
