Old Nubian: ⲥⲓⲡⲡⲓ (sippi) [ˈsippi] ‘nation, people’

The Old word is borrowed from Old spꜥ.t ‘inhabitants of a nome’, which in turn is derived from spꜥ.t ‘district, nome’.

While Egyptian is Afroasiatic, Nubian is a Nilo-Saharan language spoken in Sudan and parts of today's southern Egypt.

The word was *sibjō ‘relationship, kinship’ in Proto-Germanic, and is likely derived from the dative of the reflexive pronoun *swé ‘to oneself’ in Proto-Indo-European (*sébʰye according to Ringe).

The Latin letter E in E-numbers stands for Europe.

🇷🇺 ешь-ка yésh-ka - "just eat". Ешь is an imperative of есть yest' (to eat), -ка means now, just (usually appended to an imperative verb to express a pressing request).

As a bilingual kid, I thought there was a connection between the two words.

Seemed logical to me. There's a clog in the nose due to sipon, so you have to siphon it out lol
