The Youth Empowerment Alliance for Health (YEAH) History
The Youth Empowerment Alliance for Health (YEAH) was founded in 2015 by Robert Suzuki, Jr., Chelsea Yangirelfil, Mary Joyce Masongsong, Hannah Alcordo, Gemma Somol, and Kiana Sablan. A year before, the founders were part of a youth organization that promoted positive youth development. The founders were passionate about helping the youth and promoting health to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). Tying it together, they created this non-profit organization that aims to promote healthy living to the youth of the CNMI.
Today, YEAH is working tirelessly with the Non-Communicable Disease Bureau of the CNMI Public Health and the Northern Marianas College’s Cooperative Research, Extension and Education Services’ Nutrition and Health Programs. YEAH is actively recruiting members to join them in promoting healthy living within the CNMI.
If you or someone you know is interested in joining, please contact YEAH Chaiperson Victoria Matsunaga or Co-Chairperson Maia Pangelinan at [email protected] or 670-285-4899. Registration is open to youth members ages 10 to 26.
