🌊 Ending August with Ocean Connections! 🌊

We wrapped up the month of August this past Saturday at the Ocean Symposium at the Pacific Islands Club, hosted by FOMT and DCRM, bringing together interested high school students and community members for a day of learning, connection, and inspiration.

The symposium showcased ongoing coastal zone and coral reef management initiatives while introducing students to higher education pathways, career opportunities, internships, and conservation programs available throughout the CNMI. 🌴🐠

As an outreach exhibitor, the CNMI Division of Fish and Wildlife's Aquatic Education Program and the Fisheries Research Section's Fish Tagging Project was excited to share our programs with the next generation of ocean stewards and environmental professionals.

Si Yu’us ma’Γ₯se’ and Olomwaay to FOMT and DCRM for hosting this meaningful event and creating a space to connect our youth with the many organizations and opportunities working to protect our island’s natural resources. πŸ’™πŸŒŠ

Here’s to inspiring the next generation to learn, explore, and care for our ocean! 🐠✨

🎣🌴 Hooked on Tradition!

Recently, the 2026 Hooked on Tradition program brought 30 youth and their families together at American Memorial Park for two days of fishing, marine education, and local tradition!

Participants learned casting, knot-tying, fish identification, conservation, and responsible fishing practices, ending with a special Junior Ranger Angler swearing-in ceremony! 🐟🌊

A special thank you to George Moses, the National Park Service, American Memorial Park, Pacific Historic Parks, the National Park Foundation, CNMI Division of Fish & Wildlife, and the Sport Fish Restoration Program, for their collaboration and support in making this amazing program possible! We’re proud to work together to connect our youth and families with the ocean, fishing, and the traditions of the Marianas! πŸ’™πŸ‡²πŸ‡΅
