May May Win is an education consultant. She worked with the British Council and with the Ministry of Education, at Yangon University and Yangon University of Education. She holds M.A (TESOL) from Lancaster University and M.A (English) from Yangon University. She is volunteering as Co-Chair at Myanmar TESOL Association (MmTESOL).

Saya Aung Kyaw Phyo is a freelance trainer who has worked with international and local organizations and teachers of diverse backgrounds. He is the co-founder of Edulingo English Language Centre. He has been working as an English language teacher for more than 16 years. He published a mini bilingual dictionary from Tuttle Publishing, Singapore in 2019. He worked as a senior trainer in Saya Foundation. He holds M.A (TESOL) from Wellington University and M.A (EFL) from Yangon University of Foreign Languages.

Saya Kyaw Ko Ko Heain is an English language educator and teacher trainer with experience working with learners across different age groups. He holds a B.Ed. from Yangon University of Education .He also earned a Diploma in TESOL and a Diploma in Teacher Training from London Teacher Training College, and has completed the TKT Core Modules with Cambridge Assessment.

Teacher training program တွေမှာဆို ဆရာ/မ တွေနဲ့ သဘောတရားအသစ်တွေ အကြောင်းအရာအသစ်တွေဆွေးနွေး ကြတဲ့အခါ၊ တချို့စာသင် သက် နဲနဲရှိကြတဲ့ ဆရာတွေဆို ဒီအကြောင်းအရာကို theory နာမည် ၊ activity နာမည် နဲ့ မသိရင်သာနေမယ် ၊ သူ့အတန်းထဲမှာတော့ တမျိုး တဖုံ ကြုံခဲ့ လုပ်ခဲ့ ကြတာများတယ်။ တချို့ novice teachers တွေ ကတော့ အသစ်သီးသန့်ဖြစ်နိုင်တာပေါ့နော်။

များသောအားဖြင့် workshop တွေ training program တွေမှာ အတွေ့ကြုံအနဲများရောနေတာတွေရှိကြတာပါပဲ။ အဲ့တော့ သူတို့ကိုက သူတို့ ကြုံခဲ့ ရတဲ့ သုံးခဲ့ဖူးလောက်မယ့် ဥပမာတွေ အရင်ပေးကြည့်ပြီး မှ theory တခုကို မိတ်ဆက်ပေးတယ်။ Inductive approach ပေါ့။ တခါတလေကျလဲ ကိုယ်ကပဲ ဥပမာပေး ဖို့စိတ်လောနေတတ်တယ်။

Trainer ရဲ့ ဥပမာကတော့ ဆရာတွေဆီမှာ အဲ့လိုအတွေ့ကြုံမရှိ လောက်မှသာ ဒါမှမဟုတ် သူတို့ ပြန်ဖော်စဉ်းစားလို့မရလောက်မှသာ ပေးသင့်တယ်လို့ထင်တယ်။ ဒီလိုနည်းနဲ့ပဲ Trainer Talking Time ကို လျော့ချနိုင်မှာဖြစ်တယ်။ ကလေးတွေမှာသင်သလိုပဲ Known experience to Unknown theories သွားတာဆိုတော့ သူတို့အတွက်လဲ ဆွေးနွေးရတာ ပိုယုံကြည်မှုရှိလာမယ်။ class experience နဲ့ theory ချိတ်ဆက်မိမယ် ။ အကယ်၍ gap တွေရှိနေတယ်ဆိုလဲ သတိထားမိမယ် ပြန်ပြင်နိုင်မယ်။

လူကြီးတွေကိုသင်တဲ့ အခါမှာသုံးတဲ့ Andragogy မှာပါတဲ့ အတိုင်းပါပဲ။ လူကြီးတွေက သူတို့ဆီမှာ အတွေ့ကြုံတွေက ရှိပြီးသား၊ ဒီ အတွေ့ကြုံတွေကို resource တခုအဖြစ်နဲ့ အသုံးချရမယ်။ ပြီး တော့ self-motivated and participatory learning ကို လဲအသားပေးပြောထားတယ် ။ ဒါကတော့ pedagogy နဲ့ ဆင်ပါတယ်။ ကိုယ်တိုင် actively ပါဝင်ဆွေးနွေးမယ်။ ကိုယ်ကြုံရတဲ့ အတန်းထဲက ပြသနာလေးတွေကို အခြေခံပြီးဆွေးနွေးကြမယ် (ဒီ problem-centered learning ကလဲ Andragogy ရဲ့ အဓိက အချက်တွေထဲကတခုပါပဲ) ။

အဲ့တော့ပြန်ချုပ် ရမယ်ဆိုရင် လမ်းပဲကူးကူး ပန်းပဲခူးခူး - အဲ့ လေ အတန်းပဲတက်တက် ကိုယ်တိုင် self-study ပဲ လုပ်လုပ် ၊ ရှိပြီးသားအတွေ့ကြုံတွေ ကိုပြန် reflect လုပ်ပြီး ချိတ်ပါ။ အဖော်ရှိရင် တူတူဆွေးနွေးကြည့်ပါ ။ ဒါဆိုရင်တော့ အကြောင်းအရာတွေ ကို စွဲစွဲမြဲမြဲ မှတ်မိပြီး အသုံးချနေနိုင်မှာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

ဒီတခေါက်တော့ Sociocultural theory အကြောင်းနဲနဲဆွေးနွေးကြည့်ရအောင်ပါ။ ဒီ သီအိုရီရဲ့ နာမည်အတိုင်းပဲ ကျွန်တော်တို့ တခုခု တက်မြောက်လာတာဟာ ကျွန်တော်တို့ရဲ့ ပတ်ဝန်းကျင်က လူတွေနဲ့ အပြန်အလှန် ဆက်ဆံပြောဆိုမှု တွေကြောင့်ဖြစ်တယ်လို့ဆိုတယ်။ နေ့ဓဓူဝ ကိစ္စတွေမှာလည်း အိမ်က အဖေတို့အမေတို့ အကိုတို့အမတို့ကနေတဆင့် တက်မြောက်လာတာဖြစ်သလို ဘာသာစကားလည်း ထိုနည်းလည်းကောင်းဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ဒီနေရာမှာတော့ ဘာသာစကားတက်မြောက်မှုကို ပိုအလေးပေးဆွေးနွေးပါမယ်။
Sociocultural theoryကိုတော့ ရုရှား စိတ်ပညာရှင် Lev Vygotsky ကတင်ပြခဲ့တာပါ။ သူ့ရဲ့ သီအိုရီကို ရှင်းရှင်းနဲ့ လွယ်လွယ်ပြောရရင်တော့ ကျွန်တော်တို့ဘယ်အရာသင်သင် တယောက်ထဲ မသင်ယူဘူးဆိုတာ ပါပဲ။ ပထမတော့ တခြားသူတယောက်နဲ့ တူတူလေ့ကျင့်တယ် ။ သင်ယူတယ် ။ ပြီးတော့ ကိုယ်တိုင်လုပ်တတ်သွားတယ်။ တက်မြောက်သွားတယ်ပေါ့ ။ ငယ်ငယ်တုန်းက စက်ဘီးစီးသင်သလိုပေါ့။ ပထမတော့ ဘေးကတယောက်က စက်ဘီး handle လေးကိုင်ထားပေးတယ်။ ပြီးတော့ တဖြေးဖြေး စီးတတ်လာပြီ ဆိုရင် နဲနဲစီ လွှတ်ပေးတယ်ပေါ့ဗျာ။ နောက်ဆုံးတော့ ကိုယ်တိုင် တယောက်ထဲစီးတတ်သွားတယ်ပေါ့။ အဲ့မတိုင်ခင်မြောင်းထဲ ကျခဲ့တာလဲ ဖြစ်နိုင်တာပေါ့။

ဒါဆို ဒီနေရာမှာ ဒီ သီအိုရီရဲ့ အဓိက အချက်တခုကိုမိတ်ဆက်ပေးချင်တယ်။ အဲ့တာကတော့ Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) ပါပဲ။ ZPD ဆိုတာတခုခုကို မတတ်မြောက်ခင်နဲ့ တက်မြောက်ပြီး အဆင့်နှစ်ခုရဲ့ ကြားက အဆင့်လေးပေါ့။ လွယ်လွယ်ပြောရရင် ခုနကစက်ဘီးဥပမာလိုပဲ ။ မစီးတတ် သေးဘူး နဲ့ လုံးဝစီးတတ်သွားပြီဆိုတဲ့ ကြား handle လိုက် ကိုင်ပေးရတဲ့အဆင့်ပေါ့။ Maths မှာလည်း အဲ့လိုပဲ puzzle တခုကို ကလေးတွေကိုပေးလိုက်တယ်။ အဲ့မာ ကလေးတွေက “ ဟာ တီချယ် let me cook တွေ let me fry တွေ it’s too easy တွေပြောပြီးအချိန်အရမ်းကြာနေတဲ့အခါ ဆရာကနေ ဒါလေးကိုတော့ ဒီလိုလုပ်ရင် ဒီလိုရတယ်လို့ trick တွေ hint တွေပေးလိုက်တဲ့အဆင့် ။ အဲ့တာ ZPDပဲ ။
ဒီနေရာ မှာZPD ဟာ အမည်ခံ ပဲ ။ အဓိက function လုပ်သွားတာက scaffolding ပဲ။ မြန်မာလိုတော့ ငြမ်းဆင်တယ်ပေါ့။ အဆောက်ဦးတွေဆောက်ရင်သုံးတဲ့ငြမ်းပေါ့။ ဒီနေရာမှာတော့ တခုခု တက်မြောက်ဖို့အတွက် အဆင့်အလိုက် tips တွေ hints တွေ activities တွေနဲ့ လေ့ကျင့်ပေးတာမျိုးပါ။ ဒါတွေကိုဘယ်သူကလုပ်ပေးတာလဲဆိုတော့ Vygotsky အဆိုအရ More Knowledgeable Others (MKO) - မီကို လို့တော့ မဖတ်နဲ့နော် 😅။ MKO မှာ ဆရာတွေ မိဘတွေ သူငယ်ချင်းတွေနဲ့ technology တွေပါတယ် ။ သူတို့ကနေ ကလေးကို လိုအပ်သလို guide လုပ်ပေးမယ် ။ scaffolding က dynamic ဖြစ်တယ်။ ပြောချင်တာက ခုနက စက်ဘီးဥပမာလိုပဲ အမြဲတမ်း handle လိုက်ကိုင်ပေးစရာမလိုဘူး ကလေးကိုကြည့်လိုက်တယ် နဲနဲ ဟုတ်နေပြီ ဆိုလွှတ်ပေးကြည့် အံကြီး ကြိတ်ပြီး ခါး​စောင်းနေတယ် တုန်နေတယ်ဆို နဲနဲပြန်ကိုင်ဦးပေါ့။
စာသင်ခန်းထဲမှာလဲ ဒီလိုပဲ ။ task တခုပေးလိုက်တဲ့ အခါ အရင်ဆုံး model ပေးမလား ။ ဥပမာ writing မှာဆို ပုံလေးတွေပေးမလား ။ prompts တွေပေးမလား။ ဒါမှမဟုတ် ကလေးက နဲနဲ slow learner ဆို သူနဲ့တူတူ ပေးတဲ့ prompts တွေ main idea တွေကို ဘယ်လို support လုပ်မယ် ဆိုတာ ကူစဉ်းစားပေးတာတွေလုပ်လို့ရပါတယ်။ ဒါတွေအကုန်လုံး scaffolding လုပ်တာပါပဲ။ TKT course မှာတော့ scaffolding ကို နှစ်မျိုးလုပ်လို့ရတယ်ပြောထားတယ် ။ ပထမ တခုက teacher language ရယ် နောက်တခုက teaching strategies for scaffolding ရယ်ပေါ့။ ဒီအကြောင်းတွေကတော့ စာအရမ်းရှည်မှာမို့ အသေးစိတ်ထည့်မရေးတော့ပါဘူး ။ TKT YL course book မှာလည်းဖတ်ကြည့်လို့ရပါတယ်။

နောက်ထပ် ဒီ သီအိုမှာ အရေးကြီးတဲ့အချက်ကတော့ cultural tool ကိုသုံးပြီး အခြားအရာတွေကို သင်ယူတာပါပဲ။ အဲ့တာကတော့ language ကိုသုံးပြီး မိမိရဲ့network တွေချဲ့ထွင်တာ၊ အခြားလေ့လာချင်တဲ့ ဘာသာရပ်တွေကို လေ့လာတာမျိုးပါ။ ဒီကနေဘာထပ်ပြီး ပေါ်လာလဲဆိုတော့ social interaction ပါပဲ။ ပို interact လုပ်လေပိုရလေပါပဲ။ အပြင်မှာရော စာသင်ခန်းထဲမှာရောအတူတူပါပဲ။ အခန်းထဲမှာ အချင်းချင်း ကြောက်လို့ရှက်လို့ မပြောကြရင် မြန်မြန်မတက်ပါဘူး။ ထိုနည်းလည်းကောင်းပဲ လက်တွေ့ဘဝမှာလဲ ကိုယ်တိုင်က ချိတ်ဆက် လေ့လာသင်ယူနေမှ ပိုပိုတိုးတက်လာမှာပါ။
နောက်ဆုံးအနေနဲ့ ချုပ်ချင်တာကတော့ ဒီsociocultural theory ဟာ communication ကိုအသားပေးတာဖြစ်ပြီး အချင်းချင်းအပြန်အလှန်ဖြစ်စေ guide လုပ်ပေးခြင်းဖြစ်စေ ကနေ အကြောင်းအရာတခုခုကိုသင်ယူတက်မြောက်တာကိုအဓိက အသားပေးပြောထားပါတယ်။ သူ့ရဲ့ ultimate goal ကတော့ ကလေးတွေကို independent learners တွေဖြစ်စေချင်တာပါပဲ။
