💡 Scaffolding Learning (or Instructional Scaffolding) is an educational theory in which support is given to help students in the initial stage of learning, but then is gradually removed as the student’s mastery of the skill increases.
This approach encourages students to become more confident on their own while not being overwhelmed as the complexity rises.
🚀 With EAP Space, we integrate scaffolding methods into every aspect of the program design to promote student progression.
1) The program is divided into manageable learning units, each with its own theory introductions, examples and exercises.
2) Each lesson’s content builds upon one another to ensure mastery of old skills and acquisition of new ones.
3) Progression of individual skills is tracked continuously so direct support can be given in the right area at the right time.
Scaffolding is not only useful for students learning by themselves but can also be a great tool for teachers to apply scaffolding to their classes.
