Registration is now open for the European Innovation Partners Networking Forum in Brussels.

(For Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, N.Macedonia, Ukraine and Turkiye)

We put the focus on
three objectives:
1) Debating key topics and networking for EU Funding projects under R&D+I collaboration and capacity building;
2) Direct B2B meetings for project consortiums building for project applications in 2025-2026 period;
3) Rectors meeting, strengthening EU Member States and Candidate Countries collaboration including EU Programmes and institutions.

European Innovation Council (EIC) will be investing €1.4 billion in breakthrough innovation across Europe in 2025 after the Commission adopted the new Work Programme today.

This funding, part of Horizon Europe, targets deep tech and strategic technologies essential for Europe’s competitiveness.

Key features include:
☑️ STEP Scale-up Scheme: €300 million in total for equity investment in companies driving strategic technologies, to help them secure larger private co-investment.

☑️ EIC Pathfinder: €262 million in total for early-stage, multi-disciplinary research that could lead to technology breakthroughs. €120 million of this in “EIC Challenges” funding for emerging tech (e.g., autonomous construction robots, climate-resilient crops).

☑️ EIC Accelerator: €634 million for start-ups and SMEs to commercialise and scale innovations, with investments up to €10 million. €250 million of this funding for early-stage companies in sectors such as AI and future mobility.

☑️ EIC Transition: €98 million to turn research results into innovation opportunities.

☑️ Increased access to business acceleration services for emerging companies from ‘widening countries’.

During 2023, business angels invested a total of €1,255 million. .

Although this number decreased compared with the year before, it remains substantial, pointing to sustained interest in the development of innovation and new business ventures.

Essential industries like Health, Enterprise Software, and Fintech remain outstanding, showing those areas where their potentials for growth are seen by angel investors.

Today, EIT Urban Mobility, is launching a groundbreaking study on the “Costs and Benefits of the Mobility Transition in Europe”. This report dives into the transformation towards sustainable urban mobility across 12 European city prototypes, assessing three critical scenarios for reaching the Green Deal targets! Our goal is to continue supporting cities across Europe of all shape and size in their sustainable transition.

Some of the key findings:
🌍 By 2030, mobility technology can reduce CO2 emissions by 21%, but we need strong public transport and shared mobility plans to hit the 55% target.
🚆 Public transport remains the most affordable solution, with ridership projected to rise by 7%, while private car trips could fall by 16%.
🚴 Walking and cycling could generate €1,170 in health savings per person by 2050.
🛑 Improved road safety measures could cut traffic fatalities by up to 70%.
