Dental CAD design

Designed for modern dental practices, this compact desktop machine enables fast and reliable on-site production of NiTi lingual retainers, all within a small footprint (355 mm × 165 mm × 160 mm).

The machine prototype is fully functional, and we are currently transitioning toward industrialization, including Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Production (DFP); notably replacing 3D-printed
parts with components suitable for industrial-scale production.

We are now seeking financial and strategic partners to support the launch of production and the commercialization of this solution.

Flexible partial dentures:

In flexible partial dentures, the teeth are printed in rigid resin while the base is printed in flexible resin.
This introduces mechanical and bonding challenges due to the difference in rigidity and the dynamic behavior
of the flexible base under stress:

1* Shear and Peel Stress from Flexing

*The rigid part resists movement, while the flexible base can stretch, twist, or bend.

*This creates stress concentrations at the adhesive interface, especially during bending,
which can lead to peel failure over time.

2* Delamination Due to Flex Fatigue

*Repeated flexing causes micro-movements that can fatigue the adhesive layer, weakening
the bond even if it was initially strong.

3* Bond Area Design

* Small or flat bonding areas are more prone to mechanical failure.

* Ideally, the joint should be keyed or interlocked to better distribute stress.

To overcome these challenges, we developed a design that incorporates a trapezoidal form attached to the base, allowing the teeth to interlock securely. This technique is inspired by the traditional "dovetail joint" commonly used in woodworking.

I revisited a design I created in 2020, in which I experimented with adding mechanical retention to a partial denture using inverted conical attachments.
