A rooftop view of Marrakech shows more than just the skyline.
It gives you a better sense of the medina itself, a historic urban center founded in 1070–72, where homes, markets, mosques, and streets were designed around climate, community, and everyday life.

The High Atlas Mountains show you a side of Morocco that feels quieter, slower, and deeply rooted in place.
This range runs across central Morocco and rises to Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in the country. Across the region, mountain communities have built lives around terraced farming, local knowledge, and a strong connection to the landscape.
That’s what makes being here more than a scenic stop. It’s a chance to understand how geography shapes culture in real life.

Volubilis in black and white feels right.
Without the color, your eye goes straight to the lines, the stone, the light, and the weight of history built into the site. Once a major city in ancient Morocco, Volubilis carries layers of Berber, Roman, and early Islamic history, which is part of what makes walking through it feel so powerful.
For students in the Advanced Photography Course, places like this become more than just ruins. They become a lesson in composition, texture, and how photography can slow you down enough to really look.

You’ve probably seen this symbol before, even if you didn’t know its name.
The hamsa, often called the Hand of Fatima, is a symbol associated with protection and good fortune across North Africa and the Middle East. In Morocco, it shows up in jewelry, art, and everyday design, and its deeper history stretches across multiple cultures and traditions.
It’s a good example of how travel teaches you to see more clearly. What looks like decoration at first often carries rich history with it.

The tannery in Fes is not a polished experience. That’s what makes it memorable.
It’s working history. Leather is still treated, dyed, dried, and moved through the medina in a process that has deep roots in the city’s past. The Chouara Tannery is especially well known for preserving that visual rhythm of stone vats, color, and labor in the heart of Fes.
For travelers, it’s a chance to look past the finished product and think about the people and traditions behind it. Pigeon droppings and all.
If you’re like us, there is such a deeper appreciation of something handmade once you see the work behind it.

A desert, but probably not the one you pictured.
Agafay sits just outside Marrakech and is known for its stone-covered hills, open terrain, and big skies. It’s rugged, quiet, and close enough to the city to show how quickly Morocco’s landscapes can change.
That contrast is part of what makes this place so memorable. One moment you’re in the energy of Marrakech, and not long after, you’re out in a landscape that feels calm, remote, and almost otherworldly.
Save this one for your future Morocco daydreams.

Moroccan carpets are more than decoration. They are stories woven thread by thread. Each pattern carries memory, patience, and generations of knowledge passed from hand to hand. In workshops across Morocco, artisans continue this tradition the same way it has been done for centuries slowly, carefully, and with pride.

Geometry on a grand scale. This photo series explores the Hassan II Mosque through lines, patterns, and repeating shapes—arches that frame the sky, tiles that feel endlessly precise, and symmetry that pulls you deeper with every step. These are the kinds of scenes we slow down for in the Cultural Caravans Photography Program: guided access, dedicated shooting time, and instruction built around learning to see architecture and light. Swipe through and tell us which frame is your favorite.

The medina moves fast—tea slows it down.
A mint tea moment in Fez: texture, steam, sunlight, and the calm between the bustle.
