Exceptions with He – She and It (Be vigilant =
Soyez prudent)
 Verbs ending in -y :
 If the verb ends in a consonant + "y": Change the "y" to "i" and
add -es.
o Example: cry → cries, try → tries.
If the verb ends in a vowel + "y": Simply add -s.
o Example: play → plays, enjoy → enjoys.
 Verbs ending in -o :
 Add -es.
o Example: go → goes, do → does.
 Verbs ending in -sh, -ch, -ss, -x, or -z :
 Add -es.
o Example: wash → washes, watch → watches, kiss →
kisses, fix → fixes, buzz → buzzes.
 Irregular verbs :
 Some verbs have irregular changes or forms in the third person
singular.
o Example: have → has, be → is, do → does.
 Regular verbs (all other cases):
 Simply add -s to the verb.
o Example: run → runs, eat → eats, read → reads.

1. Positive :

o They go to school.
2. Negative :
o I do not play football.

3. Interrogative :
o Do I play football ?
o Does she read a book ?
o Do they go to school ?
