“Media Literacy - bridge to humanity”*
It is almost a week around since we left beautiful Estonian city Tartu with the bunch of good conclusions, tips and hints on media literacy topic.

💡Training course “Media Literacy Skills at Youth Work” took a place from September 29 to October 3, gathering together participants from Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and the North-West of Russia. It was intensive and inspiring five days with a lot of insights on the media literacy education and habits in different countries. Together with the seminar facilitators Malwina Fendrych and Sergei Tereshenkov (from Theodor-Heuss-Kolleg facilitators network), participants discovered the basics of the media and information literacy, got an in-depth insight into the psychological and philosophical aspects of media literacy, critical thinking, manipulations. Guest speaker Ilva Skulte of the Rīga Stradiņa University deepened their understanding on how to combat fake news by giving input on the topic “Fake News Phenomenon in Contemporary World”.

🔎Participants had a chance to get to know the media literacy educational systems in participating countries and in-depth understanding of the topic in Estonia through study visits to local educational institutions - the University of Tartu, the Miina Härma Grammar School and the Domus Dorpatensis Academy.

🛠️By use of non-formal education methods, participants had a chance to practice and develop tools in recognition of fake news and protection from fake and non-relevant information, as well as in decoding visual layers of media messages. Beside the input by the seminar facilitators, also participants offered the workshops on topics such as: algorithms of social media and email services, hate speech prevention, etc. which also enriched the programme and improved the competences of the group.

Project is funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, coordinated by Agency for International Programs for Youth of the Republic of Latvia (Jaunatnes starptautisko programmu aģentūra)

Thank you to all who participated in the Bridge It! Future Meeting in Tartu!

It was 3,5 intense days of work - evaluating the previous programme, questioning what the region currently needs, lots of creative visioning, ideas and emotions!
We developed first proposals for the future programme and clarified what human resources do we have for the further shaping of the concept.

As a result, we said goodbye to the loved Bridge It! programme, and opened the window for a new possible programme.
It takes now some few weeks to touch base also with our cooperating partners, after which official announcement will be sent to all participants of the meeting, and friends.

Please stay tuned for further news via this page and our newsletter (subscribe here, if not done already - https://bit.ly/2KOe5g6 )

Until then, please share your feedback and enjoy the photos from the meeting!

Have a great start of autumn!
