🇱🇺 Highlights from a very inspiring congress! 🇱🇺

Congratulations to the organizers of the SFERHE congress (https://sferhe2026.eventmaker.io) for delivering such a high-quality scientific event and creating a space for meaningful discussions.

The Luxembourg Institute of Research in Orthopedics, Sports Medicine and Science was actively involved throughout the congress across several activities.

🔬 Scientific contributions
Two engineers from the Human Motion Lab, Camille Wojtylka and Andreas TAMANG presented their work through posters focusing on clinical case studies:
- The rehabilitation management of a Paralympic athlete with a neurological condition
- Gait analysis in a child with a rare bone disease

🧠 Workshop – Functional Therapy & Motion Analysis
They also led a workshop in collaboration with colleagues from Nancy (IRR-UGECAM-NE), Pr.Christian Beyaert and Stella ZOGRAFOU dedicated to functional therapy and motion analysis.
This session was an opportunity to present a trunk rehabilitation protocol developed with Paralympic athlete Amsal Redzpovic, highlighting how biomechanical analysis can support clinical decision-making and rehabilitation strategies.

A new project is being launched within LIROMS!

Social media is omnipresent in the lives of young people, including young athletes. In response to the risks associated with hyper-connectivity, such as cyberbullying, social pressure and loss of self-esteem, a new research and prevention project is being launched in Luxembourg under the coordination of LIROMS (Luxembourg Institute of Research in Orthopaedics, Sports Medicine and Science).
Entitled ‘Impact of social media on the mental health of young athletes: longitudinal monitoring and prevention interventions’, this project is aimed at athletes aged 12 to 18, in partnership with Sportlycée, ALAD, INAPS and the ReFORM network, and is supported by the Oeuvre Nationale de Secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte. The objective is twofold: to better understand the effects of digital interactions on the psychological well-being of young athletes, and to propose concrete, educational and technological solutions to address them.
The project will run for two years and will consist of several components: longitudinal monitoring of young athletes, awareness-raising and digital education workshops, and the creation of a digital platform containing appropriate resources.
The results will not only equip young athletes, but also enable recommendations to be made to sports federations, schools and policymakers to strengthen the protection of young people in an increasingly digital environment.
📍 Follow us to find out about the next steps, the resources available and the partners involved in this initiative!
